Barkley also echoed head coach Nick Saban's belief that the SEC champion - should Alabama upset No. 1 Georgia in the championship game - deserves to be in the College Football Playoff.

“There is no way in hell you can leave an SEC Champion out of the Playoff. If Alabama wins they deserve to go to the Playoff. I don’t wanna hear what Texas did to them 2 months ago…” Charles Barkley has spoken@AlabamaFTBL @GeorgiaFootball @CFBPlayoff @SEC pic.twitter.com/YF2g9EZbd9

Agree with Chuck. Alabama's loss shouldn't count and neither should Texas's.

Undefeated Texas and Alabama go to the CFP.

I like Barkley, but this ain’t March Madness where early season losses to good teams don’t count against you.

So let’s go back 12 months. If LSU, coming off a loss to Texas A&M and having 2 losses had beat UGA, would they have deserved to be in without debate over full body of work? That’s just fricking dumb

I love Charles but if this is the attitude why even play the games?

How is his opinion any more meaningful than anybody else’s?

Well you aren't completely wrong. IF Bama deserves to be in... so does Texas. Bama lost at home to Texas and losing at home should count against you slightly more than losing on the road.

Can't protect your home field then don't bitch.

If it’s down to a one loss Texas vs a one loss Alabama head to head easily solves it.

100% agree, Auburn had a chance to keep Bama from winning it all, but we fell short. Bama beats UGA and wins the whole damn thing.

This isn't a hot take. A 1 loss SEC Champ is getting into the playoff and always has.

The controversy, the hot take, is what about UGA being a 1-loss non-champ?

No way this committee lets two SEC teams in.

In a scenario with 13-0 Washington, Michigan and FSU and 12-1 Alabama and Texas, the Alabama deserving gets left OUT of the playoff.

If it’s, 13-0 Michigan and FSU, and 12-1 Alabama, Texas and Oregon that is a completely different story as you are now comparing three teams for two spots. Texas beating Alabama doesn’t affect Oregon in that comparison.

Wins the whole damn thing?!? No chance. There isn’t a single team that has playoff hopes that will be as stupid as Auburn was in the 4th quarter that game.

It can happen but you would need multiple upsets - Bama over UGA, Okie over Texas, Washington over Oregon and Louisville over FSU. That would create (1) Michigan v. (4) UGA and (2) Washington v. (3) Bama.

I can see any one of those happening but not all of them together. And it would probably help if the Bama-UGA game was close and compelling.

I'm not sure Georgia would go ahead of Ohio State in that case. SEC fatigue is real.
