I don't see either one of us scoring hardly anything on that defense. Now obviously since y'all are more talented on defense y'all are going to hold them to less yards and points. But it's still not going to be pretty.

We held them to 17 points up until the last minute of the game

and that was with an offense that couldnt move the ball the entire game- we literally played defense the entire nite

Chances Ole Miss wins 6 games
Still early in the season so injuries could be your saving grace, but I don't see you guys beating Miss St. or Arkansas under any circumstances. Vandy and Auburn you'll probably split, but you could easily lose them both.

OM could beat Vandy and Auburn. It isn't out of the realm of possibility. The former will be a close game since the 'Dores struggle to score while the latter depends on QB development and whether anti-Chizik talk becomes a distraction.

Mississippi State as a road team in a rivalry game is no lock winner. Favorite, clearly. Lock, no.

Arkansas may have the talent to turn things right around, but they have a nutjob for a coach who may have his whole team quit on him soon (if they lose to Rutgers, it's on).

A&M will have a freshman QB (who looks really good so far) making his first SEC road start in Oxford. Who knows?

I got a friend that layed a good chunk on under 5.5 wins before the season started and I thought it was an excellent play,

I would have called that a lock before the season. Now? It's definitely up for grabs. OIe Miss has confidence and desire to get to those 6 wins while not facing the pressure to do it.

Also, to whomever said ULM is better than Ole Miss...they are probably similar except the Rebels have better overall athletes (SEC > Sun Belt....see College Football for Dummies). As Bo Wallace goes, so goes OM (like Browning for ULM).

Solid post. I agree with everything you said. I never said that Ole Miss was going to beat all those teams. Just that we had a chance and that they were winnable. But to suggest that Ole Miss has a chance against State is apparently blasphemous.

Mississippi has lost 14 SEC games in a row- apparently they dont have the athletes to compete in the SEC either (see actual facts for dummies)

Just out of curiosity, what do you think the score to the OM-Tulane game on Saturday will be?

That's not a bad prediction. I think we break 40.

I know you hate everything Ole Miss (LSU fans stand on the same side of this issue), but we're talking about this year. Starting with the fact that OM has a QB and some offensive firepower they haven't had the past couple of seasons. It is safe to say the Rebels have more talent than the Warhawks.

If you want to reach into the recent past, Ole Miss was a dropped easy bomb TD from keeping control against the best Arkansas team in years and beating them last season.

No one is saying that State is not much better than Ole Miss and will be not expected to beat them. Just saying OM has a realistic chance at 4 more wins against their schedule (relatively close to 50/50 if Wallace stays healthy).

Could easily happen but I honestly have no clue how Tulane is, i've heard they are terrible but I see where they played Rutgers pretty tough.

You realize you're wrong because Da Coon says otherwise, right?

That's what has me a little concerned.

I'm going with 50/50. If our defense was worth a damn, I'd say for sure, but its still iffy. Our players really want to win this season and prove the world wrong. If we go to a bowl, I'll be overjoyed.

I can't comprehend how getting buttfricked by Texas means it's time for rampant optimism.

Because if you watched our team last year, it was very clear that they didn't give a flying frick anymore. It's just "Let's get this over with". Our team was ridiculously high spirited against Texas and never gave up. That alone is at least some cause for optimism.

I think we win this weekend and win 1 more game. Probably against Vandy. I see good things with this team on offense, but the talent disparity on our O and D lines is going to keep us out of virtually every SEC game we play from here on out. To have a chance against AU, Arky, or State will depend completely on simply out coaching them, and while I feel like this will be a possibility with AU and Arky this year, I feel like in the end their talent on the lines will ultimately wear us out.

I like what I'm seeing so far, but some of my OM brethren seem to be feeling a bit too wooly. Yes there were some good things to take from the UT game, but they were purely on the offensive side of the ball. Our defense could potentially be worse then the previous two record setting bad defenses, and that is scary. We have zero depth on either side of the ball. We haven't had many injuries yet, but we have also benefited from playing at night every game in the heat as well as playing in a dome this weekend.

We will win fairly convincingly this weekend, and we will get one SEC win, but to expect more than that is asinine. We are still a very bad team, and it will take 1-2 more years to make it any other way. Our DL recruiting has got to pick up immediately to change this.

Thank you. Every SEC school has acknowledged this but State fans like Coonass refuse to believe we have gotten any better.
