The part I take issue with isn't so much the conference championship, rather the HTH of PSU beating tOSU.

If Michigan had beaten tOSU, I don't think there would have been much argument that they would have been in considering the schlacking they put on PSU; even if they still wouldn't have won their division/conference.

Most talking points are subjective. What is objective is championships and head to head.

I think teams should just schedule bad as they can in the OOC and only drop one in conference. It got Washington in this year.
That's risky tho. If MI had beaten Iowa, or OU had beaten UH, or PSU had beaten Pitt, Washington would not have gotten in. Washington was very lucky there wasn't another 1-loss team to edge them out.

Strength of schedule should matter.

Wasington only team in top 15 with a schedule ranked in the 60's

Exactly, and in the hypothetical case of Michigan beating tOSU I mentioned; I could reconcile throwing out one objective measurement for another (Michigan not being the Division/Conference champion but dominating the head-to-head). However, the tOSU pick throws out both measures.

I seriously think PSU probably would have gotten in if they had just lost close to Michigan.

The additional Pitt loss combined with Michigan obliterating them gave the committee enough to snub them.

Becuzzz you lost to MSU and they only had 1 loss. You better thank God for Pitt, or your buck its would be on the outside looking in again.

Number of losses, and quality of wins are objective and that was the difference.

Committees a joke
No justification for osu or washington being in ahead of penn state.

Now they've opened pandora's box

But doesn't PSU have two losses compared to the other two teams only having one?

Yes but i think head to head with osu plus division and conference championship trumps that with osu

Washington plays in a worse conference with creme puff ooc schedule so i think psu ahead of them too. Also what is washington's best win...colorado without their qb?

but so do losses.

Except when Ohio Stae loses, because that didn't count this this year.

Yeah, I would've been fine with PSU being in, but since the other two only have one loss, I can see what they were thinking

Playoff has killed CFB. Mark my words.

It's fine right now insofar as is means virtually no chance than an undefeated P5 team is left out of a chance to play for the title.

The danger of the playoff is that people will continually want to make it bigger and that will do more damage to the regular season than arguing whether a 2 loss team that got beat 49-10 should be playing for the national title.

Want to play rent-a-wins for your OOC? Thats fine, but you better be perfect in your conference.

Except that Washington lost a conference game and had a terrible OOC schedule and still got in.
