Resumes:

1) UA: 13-0; W 1 T10, 4 T25; L 0; Champ

2) CU: 12-1; W 1 T10, 3 T25; L 1 T25; Champ

3) OSU: 11-1; W 3 T10, 1 T25; L 1 T10

4) UW: 12-1; W 1 T10, 2 T25; L 1 T10; Champ

5) PS: 11-2; W 2 T10, 1 T25; L 1 T10, 1 T25; Champ

6) MI: 10-2; W 1 T10, 1 T25; L 1 T10, 1 T25

7) OU: 10-2; W 2 T25, L 1 T10, 1 Unr; Champ

Wins matter, conference championships matter, but so do losses.

Looking at the teams' resumes above, it seems hard to justify that any of the 2-loss teams deserved to get in over any of the 1-loss teams.

PSU 3-2, MI & OU 2-2 versus ranked opponents. PSU beat OSU, Wisc & 3-loss Temple, BUT lost to 4-loss Pitt and by 39 points to MI. OSU beat OU (bigly), MI, Wisc, Neb (bigly) but lost a close game to PSU on a blocked FG returned for a TD near end of game. OSU deserved to get in over PSU. So did Washington.

One of those top 4 teams doesn't have something in common with the others, a conference championship. Couple that with the fact that Penn St. beat OSU head to head and I don't agree with the committee's logic.

Penn State only has 2 high- quality wins and also has 2 losses. They lost to a 4-loss Pitt team and lost by 39 points to Michigan. Ohio State has 3 top 10 wins, a top-25 win and only 1 very close loss to a top-10 team.

You allow Ohio State in after losing to the eventual conference champion and you've rendered conference championships pointless. You've already removed the penalty for losing a game and removed much of the excitement.

They werent two equal teams

Thats why neither of those two criteria came into play

It was going to happen that a non-conference champ was going to get into the playoffs because you arent going to have 0 or 1 loss champs every year.

We got it out of our system now so people can complain and then move on with it going forward

This is TOTAL BS. Conference Champ plus winning HTH is way greater than any other resume stats. Every last one of you saying the committee got it right would be ready to choke them if your team was in Penn ST's shoes.

You've killed exciting out of conference matchups. They admitted that had penn state played Hawaii instead of Pitt and won they'd be in. I agree that this could be the death of CFB

So it's now better for CFB that bowls have been devalued, that head to head and conference championships mean less than they ever have, that rivalries and every other special part of a schedule takes a backseat to 'strength of record'?

This is now NFL-lite, and that is going to kill CFB.

And then turned around and said that Ohio State is in because they played at Oklahoma and won

Its not a one sum game here

The best thing is to schedule good OOC because you can slide once and make it still. If you dont have a strong OOC you have to run the table or hope others lose more

There are now 3 meaningful bowl games

There was 1

What makes the other bowl games anymore valuable under the BCS? Hint, nothing does

That was my position last night, but after thinking about it, OSU definitely deserves a spot. Went on the road and beat Oklahoma, and played a really tough schedule overall and came out with only one close loss. PSU's losses were really, really bad.

Then why is UW in?
Or was tOSU left out last year?

PSU, MI & OU had 2-2 records versus ranked opponents. OSU's record against ranked opponents blows PSU's away.

Ohio State's 4-1 record versus ranked opponents (3-1 vs top-10) is what got them in. It wasn't simply because they beat OU.

I agree ? PSU should have been in over OSU. I don't have a team in the playoff and don't have much interest in watching it now. Is there any other playoff where division/conference champs don't make the playoff?

If Penn State and Ohio State's situations were completely reversed, tOSU would've still got into the playoffs over PSU ...I bet.
