Gary and Verne always have a good time at the Cocktail Party! Why do you think the game got the name- because everyone who goes has a great time, win or lose, although the winners usually are happier on Sunday morning.

State's ratings have been through the roof regardless of time slot. Not surprised they picked that game, don't think anyone thought LSU would blow out Kentucky.

To be honest, I agree. I think it is going to be a slaughterfest.

Big rivalries are entertaining even when they aren't close. If nothing else, WLOCP's unique lack of sportsmanship is entertaining

They think one good half a season and CBS should be going out of there way to feature them. Bottom line is Ole Miss doesn't have the following UF and UGA do and they never will.

UF UGA is about ratings.

That game draws tons of viewers, no matter how shitty the teams are.

Auburn vs. Ole Miss is the bigger football game but would draw less viewers.

Who cares? CBS games blow, way too many TV timeouts coupled with having to listen to Vern.

I personally have always been a fan of the night game.. CBS 2:30 slot is overrated... I wish they could somehow start having a couple of night games a year on CBS

Another potential factor: I've heard that the SEC, UGA, UF, and CBS basically have an agreement to make sure that the WLOCP is not a night game for safety reasons. I've never seen that confirmed, but it makes some sense from the perspective of the conference and the schools. It always draws big ratings so I feel like CBS would be ok with it.

Am I the only person that prefers the prime time spot on ESPN over the 3:30 CBS? I for one can't stand Verne and Gary. But I prefer the night game time slot as a fan as well.

well, a few things:

-CBS has a deal to televise this game, and outside of a small few exceptions CBS plays at 3:30. So it only makes sense that the game won't be at night
-The city of jacksonville and both schools basically have a gentleman's agreement to never play at night again.

The only time we ever have was one of the years that ESPN used one of their priority picks and got to pick first and took that game and aired at 7:45. The amount of arrests, fights, trash, and just general mayhem was too much for one city to handle so it was decided that won't happen again.

But you really mean is that your team has lost control of its own destiny and you need someone ahead of you to lose

OP is right. UK and UF are both bad teams that will get smoked. The other options would have been much better.
