Can we talk about the absurdity of UKs Statues?

The glorification of these 4 men is not necessary. The only reason they have a statue is not because they were great men but of something they had no control of which is their race.

I can appreciate any person that overcomes obstacles in life but why make a statue to prop them up for eternity. Are there not greater things that the university of Kentucky has accomplished?

If there's anyone we need to honor, it's those four. Especially Nate Northington and Greg Page.

Now you can kindly go frick yourself.

You got a white supremacy meeting to discuss your white privilege that you're late for or something? POS

Kentucky isn't the first SEC team to desegregate. Mizzou had black players in the 50s.

They were the first to do so in the SEC. A little bit more significant than playing players up North.

They didnt do anything special what so ever. They are great people. I respect them as individuals but it had nothing to do with them. The color barrier had been broken already in the NCAA.

This is a discussion about the statues. I applaud the inclusion if all people into society but lifting or celebrating it 50 years after it happened seems redundant.

Its a recruiting ploy on behalf of the university in my opinion and is a painful reminder of history.

Those guys and many others, including Chucky Mullins, Sly Croom, etc. used the college football platform to change our society for the better. Your post may be one of the worst I've ever read on this board, and that's saying something.

The reason chucky is remembered is because of the accident. I agree with you that they used their platform to bring awareness to an issue. They are great men and especially chucky.

Do they need statues though?

I don't understand how you could possibly be bothered by these statues. How about looking at it as a powerful, brave step in humanity rather than a painful reminder of history? Think positive bro.

Those 4 men represent the changing landscape of college football, and Kentucky's leadership in that regard. Why would you think this was worth posting?

Who the frick are you. Kentucky put a statue up of something that happen 50 years ago so they could get on a high horse.

I just dont agree with the premise. You disagree thats fine.

Do you have bad dreams where statues of 4 black Groundbreaking KENTUCKY athletes are chasing after you? You seem to be really insecure and probably basketball centric. You probably never get out in the sun. You should. Basements can be damp and cold.

Just put up a statue of Jefferson Davis next to them and call it equal.

Does it really bother you that much? It was a huge changing point in college football. I'd say those statues are more meaningful than any coach or player statue
