Can we just admit that LSU isn't the job you think it is.

LSU was dog shite before Saban got there and he turned it in to a power house. Miles kept it going for the most part, he was able to backdoor his way into a championship with Sabans players but than just wasted talent.
LSU is too far removed from Saban now to keep up the talent and they will return to a bottom feeder.
LSU isn't a top 10 job and this coaching hire proves it.

LSU has great talent. What are you talking about?
Great facilities.
100,000 plus stadium.
Great recruiting base.
LSU is a great job. The problem is that the athletic department is being led by incompetents. Alabama fans should know more about that than anyone. Before Saban, that's all Alabama was. He righted the ship just like he did at LSU.
We both should be thankful for Saban and just leave it at that. Alabama had Mike Shula before him. Let that sink in. And, Mike Price. And Mike Dubose.
We're now Alabama pre-Saban just like Alabama was Alabama pre-Saban. Except, we didn't have Bear in our past.

Just goes to show any program could be at the top with the right coach. Coaching is everything.

LSU most certainly is a top 10 job. With top 10 potential.
But you do not have a top 10 legacy, and that's where LSU fans go wrong.
Your assessment is pretty accurate, minus the Bear simplification. We were good before Bear, and good after Bear.

how many great coaches are out there? not even a handful. they don't make lateral moves.
on the other hand, 95% of all second tier coaches would've jumped at the chance to come here. why hire one of them when you've got a good fit already?
it just makes sense.

It isn't hard to snag top coaches from p5 schools or the NFL for some programs in the sec.

I think it's just a money issue. LSU has a real struggle just paying their bills right now so they can't really justify paying the salary an elite coach requires.

So sick of this Saban players crap. Nicky was gone 4yrs when Miles won the NC, somebody had to "coach" these players.....
