Actually, as of July 2015, LSU and Arkansas lead the SEC each with 43 NCAA Division 1 championships.

Alabama isn't even in the top 25 on that list.

Oh, wait, I forgot that only football matters to gumps. My bad.

So Kentucky > LSU in your opinion?

In the SEC there is a Big 2. Bama in football, and UK in basketball. Everyone else is playing for 2nd place.

With all due respect George, I think of course ALL Alabama fans are going to agree with your premise, but you won't find many other "Big 5" member fans who will.
Alabama has a right to call themselves a "Big 1" for the last 8 years, but prior to Saban's arrival, Alabama was 6th all-time in NCAA victories.

Historically, Tennessee has been in the Top 10, Georgia and LSU right on the cusp of the Top 10, Auburn in Top 15 and Florida in the Top 20 all-time.

I'll still call it the Big 6 thank you, but with due respect to your program of late....

And what other 'Big 5' member has played the 'Big 1' the toughest in the last decade?
LSU. Even with only a 3-7 since Saban's arrival, no coach or team has been as competitive with Nick.
7 of the 10 games have come down to the final seconds. While if was a skiff, LSU blew 2 of those games that they had won.
What other coach or program in the SEC or in the country can say that ???

We talking football or all sports?

All sports- LSU,and Arky have a good bit more titles than anybody else in the SEC. Granted not all of Arkansas's are from SEC many from Southwest transfer.

None of the 5 schools ahead of them were in the SEC were they?

Agree - though Ole Miss (recently) and Auburn (every 3 years) have given us all we have wanted as well. It's a hard arse league.

Football. Nobody would claim Alabama is the Big 1 in all-sports. We are middle of the pack with historically only 2-3 sports with accomplishments and recently finally becoming elite across the spectrum.

I've always wondered if Bama football fans just switch to wearing blue in the winter. It certainly appears that way. The same damn people all this time.

How do you guys keep track of two SECR accounts at a time?

As a Mizzou fan who didn't pay much attention to the SEC until we joined I thought it was going to be different. The big six thing made sense at first. But as the years go by of watching it seemed a bit more competitive than just the big six. Except Alabama. I mean seriously they are ridiculously good. It almost seems unfair with how dominant they are compared to the other teams that it really does seem like Big One.

This is no shot at any teams mind you, just seems like Alabama is currently on another level than any other team. Other teams have their year of being at or close to Alabama, but Alabama is Alabama every year.

With Bear and Nick at the perfect moments in their careers the answer is yes. When you don't have one of those two the answer has been a resounding no. We'll see what happens when Saban rolls out. I can recall large swaths of time not long ago when Bama was just another SEC team albeit with better tradition.

the big 6 is about football. always been that way. lol at these wannabes trying to move the goalposts bringing up other sports. maybe save it for some other thread that's not about football guys.

and I second OP's proposal to change it to big 1.

Yes of course Alabama has always been #1 in """""""""S E C""""""" victories, with Tennessee, Georgia, LSU and Auburn behind.

And Alabama has always been the highest ranked SEC team NATIONALLY in terms of all-time NCAA victories. I believe they are now 3rd or 4th all-time.
But, prior to 2007, they were 6th all-time nationally (still the highest SEC team).
