I would say it is wider.
Then you would be wrong. Earlier the west fans were running around saying the worst team in the west could win the east. It has been proven to be a stupid thing now.....more stupid than many of us thought it was at the time it was said. Now we know Georgia is as good as most of the teams in the west. Missouri has improved greatly and have shown they can beat west opponents.
WEarlier in the year the notion there was a wide gap was based upon bad losses by South Carolina and Florida. Now that A&M and LSU are falling to the likes of Arkansas, Missouri, etc....well....hopefully you get m6y point, but I doubt it.

State, I think they lose a lot of seniors but I'm not well-versed on their depth.
I think I counted something like 16 losses to Mississippi State counting Josh Robinson and Dak.

Auburn is a 5 loss team in the east this year.

Bama will probably win the next 20 national titles.

No way State or OM is as good. I don't even think they will be close. Both loosing a lot on defense and their QB's.
shite, the defense can't get much worse. Dak is coming back btw.

There were only three SEC West teams this year that would not have won the East (LSU, Arkie, A&M). Next year, there may be as many as five (LSU, MSU, Arkie, A&M and maybe Ole Miss). The number of teams from the SEC East who would win the SEC West will remain at zero in 2015 for the fifth or sixth year in a row.

Based on what? The loss to Georgia? They played Georgia closer AT Georgia than Missouri did at Missouri. Is Missouri a 5-loss team in the East this year?

The far-and-away two best teams in the East managed a combined grand total of two wins over the two worst (or two of the three worst depending the LSU-A&M outcome) teams in the SEC West, and one of them scored the only win of the season by anyone outside the SEC West over one of the top four teams in the West, and you're ready to declare the gap closed?
When the favorite to win the West with two games left to play has a loss to a Big Ten bottom-feeder on its resume`, then it might be time to start considering whether the East has caught up or is catching up.

Surpass? In a word, no.
Get close, probably not.
Be more competitive, quite possibly.

perhaps you should look at a roster concerning Ole Miss.
