I played with his kid in high school. His son was a freshman when I was a senior. Dude was a dbag with a 48 mph 2 seem. Steve was a total toolbar but his wife was pretty decent and I was 18. Noticed she was liking all of my Facebook pics and statuses so I messaged her. The rest is history.

Whoever he is, he sure has started an epic cripple fight and it's fun to watch. You have to give him credit for that.

He predicted that State would go to the Rose Bowl one year and they ended up winning like 1 game that year.

We actually won 3 that year thank you. In fairness to "Rosebowl" most prognosticators and polls had us in the Top 20 and even as high as 8th. The Rose Bowl was the site of the BCS Championship that year,2001, and Steve predicted State to play in it. Most State fans including myself laughed about it before the season, but we were expecting to win the SEC West. We beat Memphis the first game like 30-10, I was at the game(played on Labor Day night) which was broadcast on ESPN. I remember watching the replay, and Lee Corso saying we could actually win the National Championship if our QB play(Wayne Madkin) was decent. We were returning most players from an 8-4 team in 2000 that lost 2 games in OT(LSU and Ark) and another in the final seconds(South Carolina). After the 9-11 attacks and cancelled games we came back and were terrible(damn you Bin Laden). This was the beginning of the end for Jackie.

Wow, what a flake! If he still has that name, he needs to change it to something more like Bowls**t.

Is State off probation for buying a Mustang for that recruit yet? I don't keep up with your recruiting violations as much as I keep up with ours.

I guess it's easier for you since your violations are pretty much ongoing.
And MSU didn't buy a Mustang for anybody. A booster got a recruit a discount on a used Mustang. We self-reported, disassociated the booster and fired the coach who was not involved, but knew about it immediately. The recruit was suspended for more than a year and MSU completed several penalties.
Now as far as Ole Miss violations, OM has several coaches including the Head Coach who are named in the NOA's who are still on your staff. And your administration is trying to blame all of the violations on Barney Farrar.

Yeah. State had two blowout losses but also losses of only 2, 2, 3, 3, 7, and 12 points. Had 3 new JUCO All-American linemen (and probably others) who didn't pan out.

I was expecting big things that season, too. 2001 broke my heart and I haven't been all-in since.

People forget from 1997-2000, State had the best record in the SEC West. The beginning of the end was the 17-10 OT loss to Arkansas in late 2000. It snowed, sleeted, and rained that day. We got up 10-0 early, sleepwalked the rest of the game, and had a FG blocked that would have won it in regulation. Arkansas was like 4-5 and we were 7-2. Win that game we most likely win the West for the 2nd time in 3 years. That game kind of led in to 2001 and began the end of King Jackie's reign.

I think a lot of people are missing the point. OM is facing some serious penalties no matter how you slice it.

With that said, the introduction of the Rebel Rags civil suit creates a whole new complexity. I am sure the NCAA's in house council is reviewing parts of the investigation. Not to determine If OM is guilty or not, but to analyze their exposure to liability. It would seem to be the most prudent route any organization would take.

I was at that game. Two big plays that cost State-- (1) a State interception that could have been a pick 6 but the player ran out of bounds untouched. I think we ended up that drive not scoring. (2) State had the ball inside the 5 with 20 seconds to go in the first half but the ref stood over the ball until time expired and wouldn't let State run a play.

The sleet made it feel colder than a lower temp and snow would have. It was awful! I stayed for the whole game but my father-in-law left early with my two sons and they all sat in the car with the heater on.

I agree that game was a turning point for State and Sherrill. We had beaten #3 Florida and #15 Auburn on CBS in consecutive weeks earlier that season.

Yep, I was there also. That ref pulling that before the half was awful. I remember being so cold at the half I ate nachos with jalopenos without anything to drink in order to warm up. I remember being to nervous to watch Westerfield's FG attempt at the end of regulation. I turned and all I heard was two thuds. I knew that second thud was a block.

Steve, I just figured out who you are, Steve.

How is your book doing so far, Steve?

Are you and Coach34 butt brothers in real life? Everyone says you are, Steve.

They tend to do that when it happened 20 yrs ago and only for a 3 yr period.

Which 3 or even 2 year span since segregation can OM look too as being the best in the SEC. Oh wait, you don't even have a 1 year span

State has never been this. OM hasn't either. Sucks doesn't it?
