If he lines up tight, I recommend holding him and making fight off the block. Disrupt his timing. Or do what Wisconsin did on our TE hide a LB inside of the DE and DT gap whose job it is to knock Howard down.

OJ Howard. what is he like 29 years old? it feels as though he's been playing forever

We will have to stack the box to stop the power run game. Fortunately, we've yet to see Hurts take advantage of that.

Dangerous game with all our "eye candy" stuff. One misread and somebody is gone. But, that's why we are able to still be dangerous on offense without a great passing threat.

Man, it's weird describing our offense in Auburn terms, but it is what it is.

I don't have any faith whatsoever in Hurts hitting a deep ball against anybody. Maybe on a flea flicker with the receiver standing all alone and even then it isn't a gimme.

13 of his points and about 150 of his yards against Alabama
93 yards were

So he still had 328 yards against Bama before the last two drives.......

Agree - there is zero chance we take chances against LSU's DBs. We are going to run the football and try and throw off the run and get guys in space.

If LSU performs offensively like I assume most expect them to (i.e., struggling), Kiffin has no reason to be super aggressive. It would be pretty reckless for him to.

If LSU is struggling to move the ball, Kiffin will want to control the clock and wear down the LSU defense with long, run oriented drives.

Oh yea, he had a good yardage game against us. No doubt about that.

However, we also took 14 points from him. Recklessness gives and recklessness taketh away. So in the end, I'll take a net of 23 offensive pts against a team like that in Oxford. We had some busts, their receivers made some plays, it happens. Our style is susceptible to QBs like that with big, box out able WRs.

I simply want the OP to admit Ole Miss didnt have success passing against LSU, and other Bama fans in here to stop echoing it

My personal plight of the day

Only 1 pass play over 20 yards is very impressive against that bunch.

Wow.....he plays the entire DL by himself? Amazing

if Valentine plays, which he should, Bama will need 2 to block him

Jamal Adams will be Howard's shadow. Aranda sic'd him on Evan Engram (SEC receiving ldr TE from Ole Miss) and he had 3 for 15 no TDs.

No one can cover all of our WRs man to man. I would be able to throw it to Ridley and Stewart if you are in man. You will have to double up and that will allow our rushing attack to prosper. That's how the game works.

Difference is Adams didn't have to worry about supporting the Front 7 against the run vs Ole Miss.

I'm most interested in watching Kiffin scheme against Aranda, and vice versa. Aranda has shown the ability to make adjustments throughout the game, which is something completely foreign to LSU since Chief left. It'll be fun watching him go up against one of the best, with these players on both sides of the ball.

Hurts can throw deep on us if they have the run game going. I expect them to hit some big plays, I expect us to hit some too.

You may very well be right. But if I'm a d coordinator...I'm gonna make you prove it. We don't have the d-line talent you guys have, I give you an edge in LBers too although I love Duke and Beckwith...but I'd take our DB's vs anyone in the country. So if you are going to beat me, you have to beat my best. Just my opinion.

Absolutely. Throw it deep on donta Jackson. Cash in on the pass interference.

It's what ole Miss did.

Ole' Miss line was pretty beat up if I remember correctly, which certainly had an impact on swag ...

In this game we are slightly better in every statistic:
Ranks (Bama - LSU)
Pass D (35 - 41)
Rush D (1 - 12)

Off Pass (62 - 104)
Off Rush (9 - 19)

It's hard to quantify the changes since the opponents are different so you probably are closer in Offense. We are a lot better than when we started too. IMHO, this is a 10pt game. 31-21.
In 2011 I thought the same difference and I was about right. Add both scores and divide by 2 (21+6 and 9 +0) that's (27-9)/2 = 9. Looks similar this year. A 9 pt dog wins 20-25% of the time so anything is possible.

I noticed that OM found their only success through the air.

They had 3 or 4 decent passes in the first 2 drives, but at least 2 of those were busted coverages. Almost every other drive was less than 5 plays.

Arden Key is one of the best pass rushers in the nation, and our others aren't too shabby.

I'd say it's going to have to be some wide open receivers for Bama to get a deep passing threat. I think we'll contain well, so Hurts' won't be as easily able to run to extend the play.

I don't know how Ole Miss's Oline is compared to Bama, though. Of course, I know Chad Kelly is a better QB than Hurts
