App. State is building a very decent Sunbelt level team. A few years down the road if they keep it up they could very well be one of those teams you hate to see pop up on your OOC schedule.

I just don't think they have the firepower to stay with the Vols. Either the Vols jump up out early and go into cruise control, or App. State keeps it vaguely close for a half before Tennessee puts them away.

They aren't a bad team for the conference they compete in. They just don't have the horses to beat the Vols unless Butch has a Herculean proportioned collapse.

41-7, they've been blown out by every power 5 team they've faced since Michigan.

App State hasn't been FBS for 2 years...11-2 last year with their 1st bowl win.

Why does everyone keep bringing up Michigan it was nearly 10 years ago. That App. State team would beat the shite of this App. State team. They are not that good.

They'll probably finish 1 or 2 in the Sunbelt this year

didn't know the 2007 Appalachian State team was playing UT tonight. I really don't know why people keep bringing up a game that happened nearly 10 years ago.

What?

App. State went 11-2 last year. They lost AT CLEMSON and they lost to Arkansas State. And many of their wins were blowouts.

almost the entire SEC would have gone 11-1, or better, with the schedule they played last year

Maybe for a little while, but Tennessee should win this game by 3+ scores.

I actually wouldn't be surprised to see the Vols win by 10-14. I expect them to keep it very vanilla on both sides of the ball and get backups in early. However, if we do lose... fire Butch immediately.

But we won't.

Didn't Toledo beat Arkansas last year? Didn't Memphis beat Ole Miss last year? Why is everyone in the SEC so arrogant about teams from the Group of 5?

Because we constantly hear this bullshite that we will lose our opener to shite teams. We haven't lost one in 22 years. They said BG would beat us last year, they said Utah State and Chuckie Keeton would beat us the year before, they said WKU and Bobby Petrino would torch us the year before. NC State was supposed to knock our block off the year before that. shite gets old.

because, generally speaking, SEC teams blow those teams out. Outliers don't change that.

All I know Tennessee is playing one of the better Group of 5 teams on a Thursday night with no warm up game. I think they win, but I also think there is a very good chance that this is a competitive game. The weirdest, most bizarre outcomes are often reserved for these odd Thursday nighters.

Both Toledo and Memphis would have beaten Appalachian State by 40 or more last year, easily.

You need to calm the frick down.
