I love how y’all are counting southern as an auto win. The only chance we have of winning is if the defense scores twice in that game.

You don’t think it’s safe to assume a win against a 1-6 Sun Belt team whose only victory is Alcorn?

State isn’t a good team but let’s not kid ourselves, they are 4-3 with two P5 wins. USM is the worst FBS team on our schedule. That game should not be close.

And our win over Arizona turned out to be solid. AZ lost to top 5 Washington by 7, took USC to double OT, and beat the brakes off a ranked WSU.

Their new coach turned it around fast. He wouldn’t be a bad consideration for us if we decided to fire Arnett

Nah Arizona isn’t bad. State had a really weird gameplan in that game that would’ve gotten them beat if not for 5 Arizona turnovers. But that win has aged pretty nicely. They’re likely a bowl team.

I don't know what to take from the Arkansas game. KJ couldn't have looked more disinterested. After every drive, he went to the same spot on the same bench without talking to anyone and just chilled. Did the defense actually turn the corner or is it an anomaly like the South Carolina game was for the offense? I think the game said more about Arkansas quitting after 5 straight emotional losses than it did about State making progress, but I could be wrong.

The good news for State is Auburn is up next and they probably aren't in a much better place emotionally than Arkansas was, coming off of 4 straight SEC losses. Hugh fired some special bullets and Ole Miss played as poorly as they have all year for a half and Auburn still couldn't manage to take a lead at any point in the game. I could see this game playing out exactly like last week's did.

State is lucky it took Arizona 4 weeks to realize they were playing the wrong QB. Arizona probably drops 40 on State with Fifita playing.

Now I know I didn't read that correctly - probably the shrooms. Now what now??

I’ve wondered if Arnett didn’t take back control over the defense over the bye week.

Yes Arkansas played bad, but our defensive playcalling was different. Blitz packages, secondary had their receivers locked down. Jefferson had nowhere to throw all game except check down routes

It reminded me of an Arnett defense from the past two years, not the defense we saw prior to Arkansas.

Armett was feeling the heat, I wonder if he didn’t take over the defense himself since he was a good DC for us to try to save the season. If we can play like that on defense the offense is good enough to win a couple more games especially once Rogers returns

Maybe. State's offense didn't give anyone the warm and fuzzies

The Auburn vs Miss State game will determine which team is bowl eligible. It'll be the Bham Bowl so it might be good for Auburn to drop that game and avoid their third Bham Bowl bid.

Bowl games are worth it for the additional practices. Doubt Hugh feels the same

Just need one of Auburn, Kentucky, A&M and Ole Miss.

I think you do it but that also saves Arnetts job. I think you’re better ripping that bandaid this year.

Also, Vegas had y’all at 6.5. They’re pretty good at their jobs.
