Did LSU REALLY overachieve though? 51 of the 96 (53%) pre-season record predictions had LSU going 9-3 or better, with 17 being 10-2 or better (18%). I guess winning the West was the over achievement?

Conversely, only 26% of VOL predictors had us going 10-2 or better, and only 10% had us at 11-1+. More accurate representation of over-achieving.

Now the very interesting fact about any of this, is skimming through the pre-season predictions and those that participated are the names notably missing:

LunaFreak, General4Heisman, and Serreneaux on the VOL side… Mizzoufan26.. Liberace (LSU)…

Seems the trolls aren’t much for any pre-season talk.

LSU: I originally thought this was a 7 win season. New Coach 39 scholarship players just last Jan. Complete rebuild. I'm not at all upset with 9-3 season. Things are trending in right direction. Rolling into SEC Championship game with no expectations....reminds me of 2001 LSU vs Tennessee SEC Champ game. Tigers came and blew shite up this 2022 season and I loved watching it play out. Solid run. Solid foundation. Preparing for 2024 National Championship Run. Geaux Tigers!

Even with all that said I think South Carolina was the most improved team in the SEC conference! The last three games have been fun to watch!

It's all on whether the "culture has really changed" and Texas can finally close out games.

Ok State and Texas Tech in particular were infuriating. Not only should Texas have won, but they should've stepped on their throat. Instead, they gave each of those schools a banner victory that could've been completely avoided.

BDK is still taking his tigers to SECCG in year ONE. Something jimbo hasn't done in his five years in college station. second year in a row the texags aren't going bowling. Enjoy your super bowl win and extended offseason.

Without Hooker, Tennessee is as ordinary as dishwater. I hate it, but it is what it is. Milton can't hit a bull in the butt with a bass fiddle.

UGA may be the best offense in the country between the 20s (despite being a team who shortens the game, we have the 2nd most red zone attempts in all of college football).

Redzone has been consistently scoring.
... just not touchdowns (we are 7th most in the country in red zone TDs. #1 in the country in red zone scoring percentage).

For the third time in 4 years, we are #1 in the country in scoring defense. Again, this is impressive with the amount of rotating and depth that we use continually throughout the season.

We still haven't found consistency with the loss of Nolan Smith (we are great against passing offenses, but heavy sets have shown cracks at the position). Given enough time to gameplan, I do expect this team to continue to improve defensively.

Well the regular season is over and we all had hopes of grandeur which were mostly dashed for everyone not named Georgia, so let's hear it.

Georgia and LSU

Fantastic season versus talent level in year one of a rebuild. Hopefully you didn't leave that out due to pure saltiness.

Arkansas success is always on the razors edge (no pun intended), and injuries or miscues can kill a season. They did, along with some coaching decisions I wouldn’t agree with. Defense was horrible all year.

Had the potential to win 9 regular season, 10 if the stars aligned. All in all very disappointing.

Must survive the transfer portal, and convince Fisher to become a CEO. Otherwise, dark days ahead. Weigman is the most talented A&M QB in a very, very long time as a true fish.

It was fun seeing us rally from early multi-score deficits all year but playing that way was bound to burn us somewhere down the line. One improvement I'd like to see next year is not sleepwalking through an entire quarter or more before turning it on. When BK was first hired he said that he'd put a team on the field that would start fast, and that has been far from the case.

I'm hoping we can see some development in JD's passing game if he returns next year but he's a 4 year starter unlike Mett and Burrow when they first started here and had major improvement in their 2nd season. So I have some doubts it'll happen but at least he has the element of his running game which admittedly has helped us win games this year, I just worry he's being figured out at this stage of the season which makes me a bit concerned going into next year.

All in all though, as disappointing as the losses were, especially to A&M, expectations for this season were exceeded so it's a fine season to build on. 2023's schedule is more favorable to us as odd-numbered years tend to be and hopefully we can get to 85 scholarships with the next freshman class and transfers

LSU overachieved with a first year coach and not much returning in the cupboard. Then, after expectations were reset, fell short.

Overall, LSU ended up better than the team everyone thought they would be.

Also, fanbases can be good at deluding themselves.

LSU was unranked to start the season. ended 9-3.

A&M was ranked #5. ended 5-7.

Holy hell did you seriously just put that together? Impressive Yeah we had some fans on here saying we would win nine games and everyone thought we were fricking crazy. Like literally insane. This team overachieved no matter what we thought or anybody thought before the season. You guys on the other hand?

Can beat anybody in the country but weaker defense than normal and it cost us two games!
