Tournament record at UT is 8-4 in 5 incomplete seasons.

I'm going out for the night now, and I'll leave the SEC rant to discuss his accomplishments.

That's nice, but until there are more tournament trips overall than there are tournament losses, he (and UT) are just another team that didn't win it all.

I know that some of the Vol fans will respond with "When was the last time Auburn even made the tournament?" but you have to look at it objectively. While it is nice to get there, unless you win it all, has it really been a successful season? At some point if you don't win it all, you get relegated to the ranks of the Buffalo Bills of the early 1990s.

im not a UT fan, but i think what he has done there has been pretty remarkable. He has energized a school that didnt really care about basketball by giving them a well-coached, high energy, consistent basketball team to root for.

i remember someone starting a thread recently about how he was starting to tail off. It looked ridiculous then and looks worse now. This is not his most talented team. On top of that, they had to boot arguably their best player at midseason. His team has responded by beating the two best teams in the regular season (KU, UK) and are one win away from the final 4. Tonight has to be a great time to be a Vol basketball fan. Congrats.

It is unreal to me that his son even sees the floor. He must be the worst player on the team.

Funny, if I recall, you and Hillbilly Jed said UK would get knocked out as well.

Good win.

Maybe not, but in his 5 years at UT, Pearl's teams have made the tournament every year, including three sweet 16 appearances. Considering that UT has only made six sweet 16s ever, I think he's done OK. Not to mention breaking through to the elite 8 for the first time in the school's history...

I'd take getting to the Super Bowl / NCAA tourny and losing.. than nothing getting to either at all. Regardless of how many times it is.
