Pearl attempted to get involved with the Memphis job when Cal went to Kentucky and that was after 3 Sweet 16s in 4 years at Tennessee and a top 5 class coming in.

No doubt he would leave Auburn for Memphis. The only thing I could see preventing it would be that buyout.

You're free to get as upset at and be as dismissive of the suggestion as you'd like but the source my friend heard this from is actually an Auburn booster who is close friends with someone very close to Pearl. The guy I heard it from knows the Memphis area very well and was almost perfect in his predictions during the Logan Young/Albert Means case so there's that.

Again. Not upset and not dismissive. It's a bammer thread with tons of evidence that something has or will likely happen. I mean you clearly said that "sources say". What more evidence do we need? I am surprised that ESPN has not run a story on it. That was enough to skewer Cam Newton.

Should be enough to run a story and undermine Coach Pearl too. Thanks again for all the facts.
