It's still early, but with both of us having pretty solid OOC seasons (if we can both finish it off the way we should), Alabama and Auburn should both be in the NCAA discussion to start the SEC schedule (Alabama 23rd , Auburn 41st RPI).

That's pretty great for what will be Pearl's 2nd worst team at Auburn and what will be Johnson's worst at Alabama. We are both going to have really good, NCAAT/Top 25 level ballclubs in 2016-2017

You're looking really good today. Watching at work so I've got the sound down. Who was that kid that hit the step back fall away 3 to seal it at the end?

That was nice............

Kareem Canty. He's a lights out shooter.

We might ruin somebody's day, but I won't get my hopes up for this season. We're athletic AF but we lack big men, have no real C, and with TSD perpetually injured Canty is our only true PG.

Not many NCAA teams have a really good C and Auburn has a bunch of athletes and a hot hand shooter. And, most importantly, like Alabama, a non-crippling OOC record. Get to start SEC play with a Top 50 RPI.

I'll be happy to see it.

Sonny and Wimp put on some epic shows in the 1980s without the venom that permeates the football side and both also went to the tourney on a very regular basis. Be nice to get back to something like that again.

I just don't think we have the depth overall. I'll be happy with an NIT berth and a win or two in the SEC tournament.

Next year is when NCAA tournament expectations start. And in 2017-18 when we get Austin Wiley from Spain Park we should have top 25 level talent.

Auburn will have : Canty, Lang, Reed, Spencer, Purifoy, Dunans, Heron, Harper

Alabama will have : Coleman, Hall, Ingram, Hale, King (from Memphis), Key, Davis, Ferguson

Those are 2 teams that should be knocking on the NCAA door. Iron Bowl of basketball will have the most talent on the floor it has had since the Wimp-Sonny days.

Most SEC teams are starting conference play with a non-crippling record. Only LSU, Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Missouri are.

Everyone else could conceivably make the dance at 11-7 in conference play.

I don't think Auburn is going 11-7 in conference play, though. You never know, I guess. Canty will win them some games but the rest of the team is wildly inconsistent. The NIT would be a nice result for them this year.

Canty as a senior with more depth around him... and guys like brown, spencer, and williams will have a year under their belts.... throw in purifoy and we should be pretty damn good next year.

Still no size inside... until Wiley shows up in 2017

Yep. Been a much better OOC run this year than in some years past. Not as many big wins as we would like, but very few ugly losses.

Still need a good big, but I can't complain a bit considering what Barbee left Pearl to work with. Pearl is rebuilding this team from scratch.

Hopefully the team gels during conference play like last season. Just like last year we're playing with mostly new guys and only had one consistent player early on (KT Harrell). They started playing as a team and ended up winning 3 SEC tournament games. And that team didn't have half the talent of this years team. When you watch us play that's been one of the biggest problems is that they don't appear to have much chemistry yet.

Can't emphasis this enough. Granger and Tahj Shamsid-Deen are the only two (scholarship) Barbee guys left which is pretty crazy

I can't wait to see this happen again. Avery and Bruce are will be making some noise, and it's been a long time coming.
