Obligatory always flaming A&M post.

No but seriously, anyone arguing AGAINST A&M's future success can at best take a wait and see approach. It will all be decided on the field. If A&M isn't what they claim to be then their performance on the field will prove it. End of story. Everyone should move on. The rest is speculation and conjecture. Also, Bruce Matthews seems like he would be an NFL guy before college. I have a hard time believing he is telling Joeckel to stay in school risking an NFL career period. Seems odd, but maybe its true.

Always having fast starts and then you blow your wad everywhere at the end of the game. So you held on to dear life and didn't get beaten in one game.

End of 1st Quarter:

Florida led 7-3
Tied with SMU 0-0
Led SCSU 14-7
Arkansas led 10-7
Ole Miss led 10-7
Led Louisiana Tech 21-0
Led LSU 9-0
Led Auburn 21-0
Led Mississippi State 14-0
Led Alabama 20-0
Led Sam Houston 7-0
Led Missouri 21-0

Now take the 2nd quarters of those same games:

Outscored Florida 14-3
Outscored SMU 20-0
Outscored SCSU 35-0
Outscored Arkansas 20-0
Outscored Ole Miss 10-7
Outscored Louisiana Tech 18-13
LSU outscored us 14-3
Outscored Auburn 21-7
Outscored Mississippi State 10-0
Alabama outscored us 14-0
Outscored SCSU 27-0
Outscored Missouri 21-7

If Aggies are being honest with themselves and their team, they will tell you that the team did really really well in the first quarter or first half of big games, but struggled after that. A&M got out to early leads in three big games this season, and blew those leads in two of the three. They are the kings of the first quarter, basically.

My interpretation of this is that teams were able to make adjustments against Texas A&M. Florida shut JFF out in the second half. LSU shut him down after the first quarter. A&M scored 20 of its 29 points against Bama in the first quarter.

The question I'd be asking myself, if I was a critical Aggie fan, is whether we will be able to take teams by surprise anymore.

My guess is no. We'll be expecting what you throw at us next time.

I don't know how successful A&M will be next season, but you are acting as if A&M will make no adjustments and add no offense/changes to compensate for the SEC's "learning curve". You act as if talent had NOTHING to do with A&M's success this year. You act like it was some gimmick or a fluke. You act like A&M will be a mid-pack team and not be a threat to anyone.

So what are you saying?
1. A&M has no talent?
2. It was a fluke?
3. A&M will remain static and everybody else will adjust?
4. History = Future?

Just what are you arguing by saying that SEC schools will adjust to A&M's offense? Let's get this on the record.

The NFL in Bruce Matthews' day is not the same as the NFL of today. A lot of Hall of Famers don't think the game is played properly anymore at the pro level.

What is this "it" you are speaking of? Your 3rd place finish in the West?

That wasn't a fluke. That will become commonplace. Get used to "it."

So, what was your tied for 2nd finish? A fluke?

Conference records:
Alabama 7-1 12-1
LSU 6-2 10-2
A&M 6-2 10-2

But there is more money to be made than there's ever been at the pro level....so its a double-edged sword. Especially if you're an offensive tackle.

Being ranked #1 and always being the hunted takes its toll on a team. Oregon & Kansas St. choked it away very fast. Much different animal.

A&M is not really a great "team." They are a house of cards that is just asking for ol' Johnny Boy to break a nail and be out for the season.

Yes I think we will.

They will be surprised when our defensive line play is better than any time since the 90s with the studs coming in.

They will be surprised when the most talented athlete in Texas (RSJ) is catching JFF touchdowns in their secondary.

They will be surprised when we unleash what might be the best running back in the SEC next year (Brandon).

Plenty of people think college was the best time of their life, regardless of future success.
