Let's be honest here, UK had a great start to the season. If they had done better in SEC play, they would have hosted.

The committee was proved right in not giving UK a regional. If you cant beat kent st at a neutral site, go practice your free throws. The committee was proved horribly wrong for giving a regional to Miami.

Well obviously. Would be kind of hard to determine regionals after regionals have begun.

After tonight, LSU has a nice clean path to Omaha (UCF or StonyBrook in the super).

See everyone at Barret's BarleyCorn!

Look at this Aggie talkin shite about UK losing in 21 innings to a Kent State team that is 2-0 in our region(crushed purdue 7-3).

UK was 2-1 in our series against ole Miss this year

Isn't every big 12 team eliminated or with 1 loss already? Welcome to the SEC. Bring lube.

CNB is looking like a genius once again. Host Purdue loses to the same team Kentucky lost the night before in 21. CNB, please keep the hate to yourself about Kentucky. We all know the hate comes from a trip from hell you took to Lexington and a McDonalds parking lot off of Man O War Dr.

Ole Miss still has to beat us again. We can go 2-1 against them this year also.

After watching our bats yesterday, I dont have the most confidence in that happening. We might enjoy an SEC knocking us into the loser's bracket and an incoming Big 12 team knocking us out all together. that would typical for our sports year.

Tip of the cap to the Rebs for a great game on their part last night. Hope to play 2 more against yall.

Kentucky finished one game short of winning the SEC regular season crown. For you to say that UK needed to do more in SEC play if they wanted to host is stupid. Just because they lost to the #3 seed in the first game proves nothing. I bet they would have cruised to a win vs #4 seed Valpo if properly seeded.

One game back in the SEC, you know, the conference that went 8-0 yesterday and their #9 team won in College Station, is far more worthy to host instead of a 5th place ACC, which is doing its annual post-season choke job.

Man....some folks have a hard time understanding. Florida is always well repped in regionals and it has something to with population, tv markets and $$ whether you wanna believe it or not.

The Univ of New Jawsey @ Coral Gables has past history of baseball success but they didnt deserve to host this year.

all i said was if there really is a so called stigma against SEC teams hosting, then UK should have won more and made it a no brainer decision.

Do you agree that if UK would have won more conference games, then they probably are hosting in Lexington?

This argument is dumb. Tons of teams could've "won more" to host or get better seeding.

The larger point is that Miami shouldn't have been hosting given the criteria that the committee discussed after the fact (i.e. expanding the game, teams earning it during the season, etc). If Miami doesn't host, Kentucky was the next best team. Kentucky's WHOLE body of work was complete enough to host. Especially over Miami, in a state where there was already two regionals.

UK didn't host because of their ooc schedule. They did plenty in the SEC to host.

Because Kentucky lost to Kent State. If you can criticize what happened to Miami yesterday and today, you can criticize Kentucky for what happened yesterday. If they deserved to host that bad, they should have taken care of Kent State.

Some observations :

#1 UK hosting at Cliff Hagen means 4 - 6 of the shots UK took become out of the park home runs, and ended the game much sooner.

#2 Playing at home would cap an exceptional year of UK baseball and exposed baseball to a new market, something the NCAA has repeatedly said they wished to do.

#3 The live reported attendance in Gary was around a few hundred folks. If Kentucky played in Cliff, with Louisville in the regional the place would have been packed. Lexington is much nicer than Gary, and warmer too.

#4 UK finished the regular season at the very top of the SEC => LSU + USC + UK + UF were razor close. UK made the final 4 of the tournament in Hoover, going 2-0 in the first games. Miami finished 6 games behind in a conference where 6 teams failed to break .500 and 6 teams were behind the winner by double digits. Only Tennessee and Alabama finished behind the winner by 10 or more games in the SEC.

#5 Currently 6 SEC teams are 2-0, and none have been eliminated out of 8 teams - 10 if you count Texas A&M and Missouri. Only Florida State is 2-0 in the ACC out of 7 teams, and Miami is eliminated even tho they played at home.

#6 Miami lost to the Gators 3 times at home by a total of 13 runs, while Kent State beat Georgia Tech 5-0 at a neutral site game before falling to the Yellow Jackets the following day by 4 runs.

#7 Miami lost to Stony Brook by 8 runs when Stoney Brook had played over a dozen games that only went 7 innings. Kentucky went 21 innings and lost by a single run to a team that is currently on a 19 game winning streak.

#8 Miami lost to Missouri State by 10 runs when Missouri State had dropped 7 of their previous 12 games. Kentucky bounced back from a near record marathon game to play the defacto home team - Valparaiso is about 20 miles from Gary, Indiana - and beat them by 7 runs.

Yeah, Miami deserved to host over Kentucky, NOT!

As for Kent State being a "easy win" for UK
+ Kent State went 24-3 in the MAC, and 5 games ahead of second place Toledo
+ Kent State beat Georgia Tech 5-0 at a neutral site in South Carolina
+ Kent State swept Miami during the season - granted it was the Miami in Ohio
+ Kent State last lost a game on April 25th @ Penn State by 2 runs
+ Kent State beat Pepperdine @ Pepperdine by 2 runs. Pepperdine is the #2 seed in the Stanford region
+ Kent State played CWS teams #2 Georgia Tech - split, #2 Pepperdine - got win, #2 New Mexico State - took series, all on the road.
+ Kent State played 21 innings then came back and beat #1 seed Purdue by 4 runs
+ Kent State is on a 19 game winning streak as of this post
+ Kent State was ranked #25 in the last Collegiate Baseball poll, only 3 spots behind #22 Miami

Normally I would be loathe to defend any school in B1G country, but Kent State has earned their seat at the CWS table.

I've congratulated UK plenty of times, and thought they deserved to host easily.
