Alabama and Auburn didn't play for 40 years at one point.

Seems like the most likely spot is A&M

Bob stoops has a winning record against every sec team besides Florida and LSU. Why would he leave because he doesn't want to face the sec? He schedules home and homes with anybody anywhere.

Our decision makers would never make a smart decision like that.

It would be like Alabama and Auburn splitting up and going their separate ways. Probably won't ever happen. Too intertwined going back over a century.

Already happened once.

Why wouldnt he have gone when he was up for the job before if he really wanted to go there? I think he's just completely done with coaching bc he knows ou isn't going to win another natty anytime soon. He's done, expect him to go into tv as an analyst or something. He isn't going to nd.

What inside info do you have that UF is even thinking about changing coaches? First coach to win division titles in his first 2 seasons. 20 wins. Again I say;

he wants to recharge in the elite conference

I haven't seen a lot of reports about it, only that he quit. Is there any reliable information about why he quit, and so suddenly? He seems fairly old to be making a new start somewhere else, but unless he plans on retiring from coaching for good, I guess that's the only option. It would be interesting to see him replace Bielema or Sumlin if things don't go well for them this year.

Our AD is more interested in getting some nice planters for the parking garages than he is in a tradition of winning athletics.

IMO his best day's are behind him.

This team he built is loaded this year. Stoops has plenty left. I agree with OP, he'll sit out a year or so and jump right back into it. I wouldn't be surprised if he gives the NFL a shot.

What the hell happened to Iowa/Iowa State then?
I don't know the history but there is precedence for splitting a state.

Here was the new (in 2011) (and shortly thereafter trashed) trophy that was supposed to represent the ruggedness of the players on those two team:

What more does a player need for inspiration?
