FWIW, buddy of mine played with him at Auburn, said although incredibly gifted as an athlete was unfortunately not the sharpest tool in the drawer. Basically, Dye & Hall just told him to go after the ball and not worry about anything like assignments. Works good in college, not so much in the NFL.

Ryan Leaf much?

second pick 32.5 million for 4 years

Jmarc- first pick 68 million for 6 years with 32 million guaranteed

Of course you could bring up financial inflation but still don't think that would matter.

ETA: Again, IMO, he was the main reason the league had to figure out how to change the rookie salary situation.

Actually it's been debated by national media that Jamarcus was a bigger bust ever surpassing Leaf.

Quentin Coryatt. Injuries caused his unfortunate demise.

EDIT: I take it back. Chuck Knoblauch was good at the beginning of his MLB career.

That's hard to believe this would be the biggest bust from you school.

Knoblauch played 12 years in the majors. Career average - .289, Hits - 1,839, HR - 98, RBI 651, SB - 407.

From 94-96 he batted 312, 333, and 341. Won a gold glove (yes, it's true), won Rookie of the Year, won a World Series, was a 4 time All-Star, etc.

Yea, both are big busts. Almost hard to go either way since they were basically 10 years apart. I think Ryan Leaf's contract broke down to 8mil a year whereas Russell's was 11mil a year.

Hard to argue and win/lose either guy. But this is SEC only so yea Jamarcus wins hands down.

he was the AL rookie of the year, a 4x allstar, a gold glove winner, 2x sliver slugger winner, stole 40 bases several times, hit over .300 multiple seasons, has 4 WS rings...

Ole Miss doesn't get players drafted based solely on our name, so when we have players drafted they're actually really good. So, no busts.

Jamarcus is big enough a bust for the rest of the SEC haha, hoping he is able to make the comeback

closest thing we have had to a bust is Peria Jerry drafted in the first round but his problem has been injuries

As much as I hate to say it, I think A&M's has to be Acie Law IV in basketball. The guy was amazing his senior year at A&M and was the 11th overall pick in 2007 but couldn't catch on anywhere in the NBA. Plays in Greece now I think.

Meh, of course, to my Falcons. Yea, he can blame some years on injuries but he doesn't appear to have any motivation or drive. He's a bust.

yea he has 5.5 sacks on his entire career. I was hoping he could develop like a less crazy Greg Hardy but he just doesn't seem to have the strive
