Not with this shite sandwich of a roster. He might have sealed the deal against Rutgers and maybe State or Florida, but that's it.

Our back seven and pass defense is quite literally the worst I've ever seen at the BCS level.

i was responding to someone who alluded to the fact that he would have had the same record here. do you think that's the case?

Likely not, but Arkansas wouldn't have gone 0-8 with Gus.

This isn't a football discussion board, it's meant only for flames and trolls. You'll have to take your well thought out and articulate responses some place else.

absolutely.let's face it, 6 wins isn't that high of a standard and Gus for sure would have beat Rutgers and MSU leaving only 1 other game to win. Arkansas would be practicing right now if Gus was the hire.

No, we wouldn't. Do you know anything about our roster?

Not only did Petrino suck at recruiting (we were popping the bubbly if he even cracked the top 25 on Rivals), but he majorly whiffed in 2010 and 2011 in some key spots.

Seriously, just go back and look at our 2010 and 2011 recruiting classes. You'll be saying to yourself "uh, I've never heard of any of these guys." That's because like 8 guys from 2010 are still on the roster and a ton of the 2011 class can't get on the field. When you crap the bed on two recruiting classes in a row, both of which should make up the bulk of your upperclassman leadership, you're going to be screwed and forced to play a ton of freshmen.

Here's what even CBS Sports had to say about it:

quote:

5. This season has done little to dissuade me that Bret Bielema can have success at Arkansas. Talked to a coach from one of Arkansas' non-conference games -- like, one of the really bad teams -- and he said they might have had more overall talent than what Arkansas was putting on the field. In the inheritance split, Bielema didn't get the Porsche.

LINK

Had to be Southern Miss, since ULL, Rutgers, and Samford were all fairly decent teams in their respective conferences.

hey...I'm trying to prop you up. It doesn't take a genius to understand that Beleimia "tricked played" the team out of the potential for at least 2 wins. This year falls just as much on coaching as talent.

Trick played? Zuh?

We lost the Rutgers game because our QB for that game was a converted linebacker. Does some of our record fall on coaching? Of course. But talent played an enormous part of it.

Bobby Petrino didn't go 5-7 in his first year here because he forgot how to coach all of a sudden, just as Larry Coker didn't win the National Championship in his first year at Miami because he was Bear Bryant reincarnated.

for me, no- but i have noticed multi folks with around 50 total posts spouting the same thing. coincidence?

So Rantards sitting on the computer all day everyday spouting "knowledge" using their On Line Identity are far more reliable than the guy with 50? Anyone outside of R-Kansas can look at what Gus did this year and what Fat Bret accomplished and come up with the simple conclusion that....yes, given what we know now if Arky had the opportunity to hire Gus (I say they did) and chose not to do so....huge mistake and a guy with under 100 posts is proven smarter than a guy with say 4512 posts.

I think after this season he's starting to understand. Surprised after all of the arse-whoopins Blowhio State has gotten from the SEC some of them haven't gotten less delirious about their program...then again after seeing Urban Meyer after that game you realize he fits in so well with that school.

Anyone remember last year's NC game they had Urban on for comments. His face during halftime after witnessing Bama rape the Irish was a look of "How in da Frick could I ever compete with that???"
