This is a hard argument to answer, the real question though is why isn't the UGA job better than either? I think they actually have the best recruiting base in the sec and their fans are as diehard as they come. How they squander what they have blows my mind. A really good coach could step in and stop the bleeding to their neighbors and hire an OC that doesn't smell his own finger every few minutes...
Back to the OP, both are great jobs...I would say right now probably LSU.

quote:guess you didn't realize UF had the longest sellout streak in tSEC for something like 20 years straight.....no one else came close. Streak was snapped at the end of last year on a technicality. Our fans almost always show up......try again though please.
The ones that actually show up

Georgia, Texas, Syracuse, Notre Dame, and your pick of the North Carolina schools are on their own separate level of underachieving...

This is a good question. I'm obviously biased but I say LSU.
Everyone says UF has a better recruiting base and I agree based on the state of FL vs the state of LA but I don't think it's a significant as some make it out to be. UF goes into the northeast quite a bit and also has to fight everyone for FL kids. LSU has LA locked up for the most part and can dip into TX and states throught the southeast. Also just based on the field of play, LA recruits,at least at the top of the group that LSU goes after, seem to match up pretty damn well. Virtually all of our best players are LA born and bred.
Fanbase is not even close. LSU fans eat their young and complain constantly but that's for one reason and one reason only, we love out Tigers no matter what.
Boosters may be in UFs advantage in realistic terms but the only ones that matter are the ones that are willing to give in droves to the program and more importantly, the ones willing to go the extra mile to ensure that the program stays on top. LSU has some guys that can hold their own with anyone in those 2 areas.
The other reason is that LSU is just a better program right now. This discussion is an evoloving one that most people try to put in a box as a lifetime achievement award. The rankings of jobs change based on results and current standing and the only ones that use schools like ND in this conversation are those that use them for their benefit or to make their argument. ND isn't a top 20 job based on current events imo.
If you had a choice right now between UF and LSU to be the head coach, looking at the current rosters, recruiting class, facilities, fanbase, money and everything that goes into it, which job would you take? It seems fairly easy to me. We're just on better footing as a program right now.

If Florida had a few losing seasons in a row
There hasn't been a losing season at UF in 33 years, multiple losing seasons in a row seems almost impossible.
Sharing the state with FSU (Miami is really starting to become less of a major factor every year) is really not that big of a deal. Sure LSU is by itself, but there are just so many more recruits in FL that having a state to yourself doesn't really mean all that much.

Alabama had, and still has the longest sellout streak in the SEC (includes Legion Field games). Alabama's began in 1988, UF's sellout streak started in 1989
You need to check again, it started in 1979.
BTW, Bama's streak that started in 1988 ended in 2002. So UF's was considerably longer, 137 games to be exact.

Alabama's isn't official.....just like their 50 MNCs
Pretty sure it was officially:
1) Nebraska (by a lot)
2) Notre dame
3) UF (until last year)
and bgGator.....I agree. Plus each team can only take on 20 something recruits every year. So LSU & UF are both gonna get elite talent no matter what. Who qualifies academically, gets arrested, gets kicked off, transfers, or simply doesn't pan out is what matters most.

Slight edge to UF.
Although we typically lock down LA, our recruiting base has less margin for error than does UF's. We have an edge at present in facilities (no indoor field at UF which just boggles my mind with all the thunderstorms in FL).

Personally I'd much rather live in Louisiana than Florida but that's just me

We were bad the year before and still sold out every game. It only ended last year on a bullshite technicality. It would've ended with Bowling Green regardless though
A lot of factors go into this though.....it's not as simple as fans simply showing up or not.
And I don't know why we don't have an indoor facility either.....it's not like we don't have the money/space for it. Apparently JF is just against it for some reason.

+1 Don't understand it.
I'm pretty sure Florida gets more rain than any state in the nation too.

yeah, it is amazing that UF does not have an indoor practice facility.
