No. That's the year. We won, but Cox was hurt for the next 2-3 games.
The whole team was hurt after that game.
I am not sure we ever completely recovered the rest of the year. That game took too much out of us. In all honesty, LSU had the better team. However, their insistence to try to run the ball right at us when we had a brick wall for a defensive line, anchored by nosegaurd Josh Thompson who they couldn't move cost them. Then the intensity of JH that day really elevated our defense and kept them going till the end.

this....
we had the number 1 overall pick at qb, and 2 first round wrs in the same year and barely attempted to throw this game

Ha ha AU - LSU 06 was an arse raping by the sec officials.

Well, if so the refs paid you guys back in 2007 in BR. That was about the worst officiated game against AU I have seen. 2010 IB is second.

2006 LSU/AU was like going to war physically. Don't think I've seen a game that physical in all my years of watching college football. It was a shame one team had to lose

Agree and understand that is why LSU fans get mad about that game. I'm just glad the game ended when it did (as an Aubie) because LSU had started to figure things out in the 4th quarter. Meaning they decided to try throwing the ball and it was working.

I gained respect for Brandon Cox in that game. Took a beating and kept coming back...

Bama-LSU 2011. Two best defenses the SEC has seen in the last decade...at least. AU/LSU in 2006 was good but neither team was NC contender.

The most physical game I have ever seen in person was the Jacob Hester 4th down game vs UF. Some of the collisions between War Daddy and the UF WR's and backs were crazy.

False. LSU would have been favored over anyone at the end of the year. Team was clicking on all cylinders come bowl season.

I'll go with LSU-BAMA, but LSU-AU in 04 and 06 were some absolutely great defensive battles.
As others have said. I miss that rivalry. Our teams ran this division for about 7 years. Always great games. It just seemed the ones in Auburn were more defensive

2004- LSU gets an unlucky penalty and AU gets to kick another PA to win the game.
2005- Auburn's kicker John Vaughn misses 5 field goal kicks and LSU wins the game in OT. If Auburn hits one, they go to the SECCG instead of LSU.
2006- Questionable penalties in favor of Auburn lead to an Auburn victory.
2007- Questionable calls, this time in favor of LSU, and LSU also gets a very lucky TD pass at the last second to win. If they lost, no NC for them that year.

Kiddos got to play while Daddy was away! We back now though! The division comes through Tuscaloosa every year now.

You didn't make it to the big game. Fact, sorry but neither of those teams was on the level of Bama or LSU 2011.

AU wasn't but '06 LSU may have been. '06 LSU was > either of their NC teams (03 or 07).
Also, Bama '11 only made it to the big game as a total fluke when OSU lost then bama snuck by at the end of the year. So, not sure that is the strongest argument - making it to the title game.

06 Auburn/LSU was the better game. Like two hammers hitting each other.
Of course the UF @ UT game later that night was even better.

If take our 2003 defense over any of these. I'd still go with LSU-AU 06. I'd love to go with a game featuring my two favorite teams, LSU and Alabama, but that 06 game just looked painful.
