Aranda is really exciting...
He had an excellent plan Saturday. The guy's definitely a top-drawer DC.

Kirby is OK as long as Saban is nearby to help him out.

I'll take Pruitt, he played at Bama and he knows what defense is about.

I'd rather Pruitt. He's more aggressive.

We've come through the meat of our schedule and we are unbeaten. Kirby was great, but other than 2009, we just couldn't get over the hump to an undefeated season. Pruitt's defense seems to play with more aggression.... No take-backs Georgia

Did I not post almost the exact same thing a couple of weeks ago?

Yes I did.

But so many Bama fans defended Kirby.

This board is like a bunch of menopausal women at times.

We loved Pruitt while we had him. Think it's to early but CKS did leave that D pretty stacked when he left.

A lot's happened in 2 weeks.... I don't think anyone here is saying Kirby was a poor defensive coordinator.... after Four national championships, the guy will always have a place in Alabama history.

It just appears that Pruitt is an upgrade... Maybe time will bear out that this statement is incorrect..... Right now I am of the opinion that he is one of the better, if not the best, defensive coordinator in America

Well said. Pruitt is more aggressive and it shows in the run D stats.

If Pruitt can stop Auburn this year, then yes, he's better than Smart.

Pruitt + Saban are peanut butter and jelly.

Pruitt + Richt were oil and water.

Pruitt always thought Richt was soft. The two never were going to get along.

Must be the reason he gets along with Saban.....

Well, you are both wrong. Not crowning a high school coach over a big time school HC today. Or ever. If too dense to get it then I can't help you.

Alabama was close to an undefeated season in 2013. Offense and special teams shared equal responsibility for the Iron Bowl loss as the defense.

Obviously I was not, nor am I now, incorrect in my observations. The proof is in the pudding as they say ... results speak for themselves.

ETA: Kirby's departure allowed Bama's D to blossom.

My, my, how fast Bama turns on players and coaches. Already trying to throw KS under the bus. Bama hasn't played any offense that has looked great this year.

They are the same when they both had talent and played the same good team (Auburn 2013). JP was only 3 points and about 50 yards better.

No one is " turning" on Kirby. Just prefer Pruitt's attacking style as a whole. Kirby still DCd one of the greatest defenses of all time.

Also to the Wisconsin alt: Aranda is a very good DC, but not part of the question.

Pretty Similar in terms of effectiveness Pruitt has given up some large yardage / points this year - just like kirby did on occassion last year. Pruitt just shut out LSU on the road and Kirby shut out MSU in the College Football Playoff.

- if pruitt successfully shuts down a CAM/Manziel/Watson type player, then I may change my tune, until then i'll call them about even.
