Anyone saying LSU's DLine is far & away superior to FSU's is kidding themselves or blinded by SEC homerism. Those guys can play, and have a "plus" player all across the line.

I do not think I saw a snap of FSU football last year.

In Alabama's 3-4 the D-Line by design are block eaters not play makers. Comparing Bama to LSU should be done in a front seven to front seven.

Who is this Wingo you speak of? No but in all seriousness Kiper has both of them going top 5 in next year's NFL draft. Clowney and taylor are talented but...

Kelsey Quarles will be every bit as good as Logan
Don't know about this. Logan is projected to go in the 20's and with all due respect I've never even heard of Quarles.

Still a solid list by the OP and I admit I'm splitting hairs on the D-line ranking.

A&M fan's if were going over "potential" and not proven talent then the list would look like this.

1. USCw
2. Bama
3. Texas LONGHORNS

Considering Monte Ball almost broke the record for most TD's ever in a single season, he carries majority of the load also O'Brien has made mistakes but he's shown he can be a good caretaker. He'll be a decent QB as long as he's not forced to throw the ball 50 times a game.

Our oline does have proven talent, the entire line is returning. How is a team supposed to have proven talent at back up positions?

Literally 3 first rounders (2 top 10) and the other is the national leader for sacks in high school and in very limited time last year proved to be a disruptive force.

Oh now I'm sold.

Faulk is just as good as Matthews and Joeckel is slightly better than Hurst. My point lies in the fact that our G's/C are better than A&M's. If you disagree then that's fine. Overall A&M has a very good line but I'm interested to see how they'll hold up against the SEC seeing as how the swamp kittens absolutely abused them in the cotton bowl

October 20, 2012. Speed, power and grit in the trenches. Can't wait.

LSU had an ALL SEC Guard out for the season last year. He will be a 6th year senior and might not sniff the field based on teh studs returning FWIW.

Uh, you might want to reconsider and put the smoke down.
Davis was 1st team all SEC before his injury. Wilson is the best QB. so Best QB and Best RB doesn't = best backfield?

I think you might have a pro-SEC bias.

And if LSU actually has the third/fourth best QB/RB combo, the second best Oline, and best Dline, and the best secondary in the country, then go ahead and give them the BCS championship.

We'll take it. Maybe that is why a lot of polls have us ranked #1 going into the season even with key losses???

Clowney/Taylor are a better defensive end combo than Montgomery/Wingo -- which matters because the end combo was the primary reason given by the OP for ranking LSU first. If that's how you look at it, then USC has the number one unit.

No they aren't.

Hey it could be true. But if those unit rankings are true then we might be looking at an all-time dominant team in LSU. (I would have LSU as #1 in the country right now as well.)

Maybe I'm giving too much credit to teams outside the SEC but of the 6 unit groupings he ranked he has the SEC filling 12 of 19 spots I think. And the SEC has the #1 spot in 5 of the 6 units. I know the SEC is the clearly the best conference, but I'm not sure it's THAT dominant over the rest of the country as a whole.

They were both true freshman lol that year? Joeckel started the whole year and Matthews only started the last 6 games of the season

Wisconsin (Very slight edge over LSU) O'Brien was very good before transferring and everyone knows about Ball. I want to put LSU here because they clearly have the best Stable of RB's in the country but Mett is unproven and that would be biased.

I think my "unit" ranks right on up there with the best of them.

That'd be a fun comparison.

Williams is better than Johnson (isn't the new DT on LSU's D-line named Anthony Johnson or something?)

Mingo is better than Hubbard.

Montgomery is better than Square.

For Dial/Johnson I'd say wash.

Mosley is better than Minter.

Nico is better than Tahj Jones.

I don't know who LSU's other LB will be, but I'd say Dickson is better now now since I'm almost certain he's a Freshman.
