Talking about Clowney, he didn't even show up against LSU, but it was a great game.

I still don't know where LSU gets this idea from, just because they were able to run the ball?

Clowney had 6 tackles in that game. His season high for a game was 7 vs Clemson and UAB. Hell he was the only that did show up. He had to run down a ball carrier in the secondary past our LBs and safeties.

He also knocked down a ball or two.

It was a shame a UGA/USC Rose bowl couldn't happen either. We get Hawaii and they get Illinois when every fan wanted to see that showdown

All because the Rose Bowl had to with tradition and go for the PAC-10/Big 10 matchup

Instead of an epic USC/Georgia showdown we got two arse kickings

If not for the questionable officiating and playcalling against Auburn, the 2006 LSU team would have likely avenged its earlier loss at Florida in the SEC championship game and won the national championship. At the end of the season, they were playing as well as any team that I remember.

I'm kind of surprised by that opinion. I thought '11 Arkansas was better, although I'm sure you follow the team closer than I do.

It's not like they can be blamed for getting blown out by LSU/Bama, those teams were pretty special.

I wouldn't put 09 Florida that high. They benefitted from the East being horrible that year and offense seemed to really struggle at times. Alabama exposed them badly in the title game.

And yet they would've still beat 07 UGA, 06 LSU, and would've given 11 LSU a good game.

They destroyed the #3 ranked undefeated Cincinnati team 51-24 and a lot of people wanted the Bearcats in the NC that year.

07 UGA got stomped by UT. I think it was 35-7. Natl title contenders dont lose by 4 td's no matter how well you play down the stretch.

How is 2004 Auburn not #1? THat team had 4 1st rounders on it, including 3 in the backfield. 10 guys on the offense alone went on to play in the NFL.

Doesn't matter anyway. 2004 Auburn almost lost to the 2004 LSU team at home, and needed a major break to keep from going into overtime. Can't imagine how they would fare against 2011 LSU.

2011 LSU went through the season without even a close game - except Bama. Also took down the PAC12 and Big East champs (who also won their respective BCS bowls) away from home. 2011 LSU might have the most impressive season in the history of college football in terms of strength of schedule... at least of those teams who ran through it undefeated.

There is no comparison between the two.

Well, first is not in time frame OP listed and 2nd 2011 LSU would still be#1 due to the fact they actually made it to the BCSCG. Plus LSU 2011 would beat the shite out of the Au team of 04.

2012 USCe was a very good team, but let's get a reality check. 2012 A&M lost two very close games to LSU and Florida, two teams that in a normal year would be in BCS games. They beat Alabama IN Tuscaloosa and crushed a good Oklahoma team in the bowl game.

USCe did crush UGA, but they weren't that close in either of their losses and they squeaked out a win by the seat of their pants against Michigan in the bowl game. These two teams weren't the same.

And 2011 LSU dwarfs all. They had a better resume going into the BCS title game than most national champions in other years.

Alright, we've heard that South Carolina had the flu the week that they played Florida. Also, while Florida did blowout South Carolina, it's a stretch to say that South Carolina was dominated.

Now, I watch the big games when I can and do a lot of reading online to gain a perspective on things I may have missed or just didn't know. I want to know why no one has mentioned South Carolina's struggle versus Tennessee. I know Marcus Lattimore went down and that Clowney was playing off of one foot; however, Richardson held his own against Clowney until that one play that cost Tennessee the game. South Carolina couldn't hang with Bobby Petrino's passing attack and they struggled against Tennessee's. South Carolina still has the one WTF game each year and struggles against the run. I may be wrong, but they also seem to have a problem against team's with a good offensive line and passing attack.
South Carolina is not elite, and they aren't ready. While they could have held their own and beaten Notre Dame, that wouldn't have made them the best team in the country. Keep in mind that my post takes into account things that I've read and/or seen.

'03 and '08 were the best teams Ole Miss has had in the past few decades, but that still wasn't good enough to be considered one of these teams. The way the '08 team finished the season, I felt like we could've beaten anybody in the country, but we lost games that we shouldn't have early in the season. WAOM!

I am in agreement. The South Carolina teams of 2011 and 2012 were good teams but they were not elite. In almost every game I watched them play they looked beatable.

The past two SC teams actually remind me a lot of Gene Stallings' Alabama teams from the mid-90s. Top 15/Top 10 caliber teams that would consistently lose to Top 5 competition.

the 2011 LSU team just destroyed people that year, and in the NC Bama was hungry, it seemed like LSU thought they would walk in and win the game.

2011 LSU
09 UF
07 UGA
06 LSU
2010 Bama
