Hands down 1959 for Ole Miss. Only gave up 21 points all year and beat 3 top 10 teams. That was the year of the famous Billy Cannon Run which is Ole Miss' only loss 7 to 3. Ole Miss went on to Bury LSU later that year in the sugar bowl.

Again... I said SHOULD'VE... insinuating that this is my OPINION. SC had no business losing to Florida (who despite their record, was not a great team).. We also loss a close game to LSU which was won when Connor Shaw threw an interception where we were marching up the field for a game winning touchdown (or field goal)... a BCS bowl could've still been possible with a loss in the SECCG.

LSU 2010. Only lost two close games on the road to the eventual national champions and then to Arkansas, who went to the Sugar Bowl. Strong running game with Ridley, very good run defense with Drake Nevis and Kelvin Sheppard in the middle. Patrick Petersen returning punts and kickoffs and as always, a shut down corner.

I'd put LSU's 2014 baseball team up. Won 57 games. Had a very good weekend rotation and solid lineup from top to bottom.
They were the best team in the country that year.

Don't y'all claim 1959?

We won the AP that year (the classic Sugar Bowl against Penn State). USC won the Coaches.

Yes, we claim 59, 60, and 62. We don't claim 55, so that would be my pick.

Yea, Arkansas had a 22 game win streak and only spent 1 week at #1 in the AP during that span.

Well y'all couldn't claim 1955. No selections that year in the records book.

I believe your '69 team has a better case. Had some great players on defense including
Casanova. Only loss was to Archie and Ole Miss by 3.
For some reason they didn't go to a bowl game that year. Anyone know why?

Surprised not to hear the dawgies mention '07. I thought UGA was on a roll at the end of that year and they were the best team in the country to end the season.

And not much said about the '88 Auburn team. Still the best defense we've ever had. That team was stacked.

The 69 team did not go to a bowl because they were holding out for the Cotton Bowl, which they had been promised. Notre Dame decides to end their self imposed bowl ban that year at the deadline, they get picked all the other spots were filled and LSU stays home screwed again.

its a tragedy 2011 LSU fricked up the National Title game.
that team was insane.
The resume alone was insane.
