LSU was garbage in the secondary last year and have been living off of past units hype for a while now.

This is true.

They repeat DBU, DBU, DBU, but that reputation was built on past units that were FAR superior to the ones they've put out the last few seasons.

Nick Saban and Ron Cooper aren't walking back through those doors.

Unlike some of you, I'm not clairvoyant. I'll answer this midway through the season.

Bama. Always Bama. No they may not have the most number one picks, etc, but they will be the most effective COLLEGIATE secondary. They work in a team concept where the sum is greater than its parts and assignments are understood. They won't make the jaw dropping interceptions, go by catchy nicknames or have the coolest swag but they will make solid tackles, play inside their roles and operate with discipline. He won't allow anything less.

Lots of people not including the number one pass D in the country from last year. We're at least in the top 5.

If you had different coaching, you'd be an elite team. Your entire staff is a running joke.

Bama. Looked what Pruitt did with Georgia's secondary in a short period of time. Now look at what he inherits at Alabama. They were very good last year with two freshmen starters.

For instance, say LSU.. they were up big against some teams.

Ok. Who were they up big against?
Auburn? Don't think they hurt you with the pass. South Carolina? See:Auburn

Oh, and for the game or two other than those that LSU was up big? Are you insinuating that Alabama was not up big on anybody? The circumstances that LSU faced were not faced by Alabama or Florida?

I also know Harris had his best and most efficient game against Florida's defense,

You do know that Treon Harris threw for 271 yards against LSU, right? TREON HARRIS. Which QB is better? Brandon Harris, or Treon Harris?

Which team played the best against a decent passing QB ? Which is hard to find in the SEC.

Hard? Or impossible?

Mississippi, maybe?

Auburn is being severely underrated here. Don't think they'll be the best, but certainly top half.

Carlton Davis, Rudy Ford, and Tray Matthews are all very good

Don't forget Jamel Dean, transfer from Ohio State.

Starters should look like this:

CB: Jamel Dean
CB: Carlton Davis
S: Rudy Ford
S: Tray Matthews

In the nickel, Rudy Ford goes to nickel with Stephen Roberts filling in at safety.

Georgia has a new coaching staff. People expecting Georgia to lead the conference in ANY statistical category are in for a rude awakening.

He didn't say we would lead in anything. He said we should be in top 5. BIG difference. And since we were #1, I don't think being in top 5 is being "off the chart ridiculous". Really?

That said, most of us DO expect to take a step back. Even though we return everybody in the secondary, we lost our two top pass rushers. THAT will make a big difference. But saying we should be mentioned in the top 5? That might be a lot of things, but "off the chart ridiculous" is not one of them.

A&M was 18th nationally in pass efficiency defense last year, and will be better this year. LSU was actually lower than Bama, UGA, A&M, UF and UT.
