It isn't a list of what a team accomplished or how good they were IMO.
It is just an adjusted list of statistical performances over the course of a season. Wins and losses are not that important on that list. More so how a teams stats stack up over the course of the season.

1. 2011 Alabama - 53.9%
2. 2012 Alabama - 50.6%
3. 2008 Florida - 49.4%
4. 2011 LSU - 46.8%
Swap #2 with #4, imo

5. 2013 Alabama - 42.3%
6. 2009 Alabama - 40.8%
7. 2014 Alabama - 38.4%
I actually agree with 13 over 09.. 2009 wasn't as good offensively as 2013, and defensively I don't really think it was a whole lot better. I'd also put 14 over 09. Going undefeated DOES mean something, but it isn't everything.
quote:
8. 2010 Alabama - 37.2%
9. 2010 Auburn - 36.5%
quote:
10a. 2013 Auburn - 35.1%
10b. 2012 Texas A&M - 35.1%
Fair enough.

It isn't all about resume. 2010 Auburn (or any team from 2010) would get embarrassed vs 2011 Bama/LSU.

Sorry, I think that '08 UF team was the best.

LSU 2011 is second best. I am sorry, but there is no way on this Earth anyone can convince me otherwise.
I agree, them and 2011 Bama were the 2 best teams since 2001 Miami. No need to get into the argument if those could beat that Canes team.

The team chemistry, the special teams play, and the offensive line was way better in '09 than in '13. I think the '09 team would win easily.

Destroy? No. Win? Possibly. Alabama's '12 squad had a much more experienced oline and the emergence of Amari Cooper and McCarron with much more experience. Add to the fact that Eddie Lacy was the tailback with Yeldon spelling him.
If we're doing the "if" game, Bama should have won the first matchup in '11.

06 LSU with Saban would be #1.

The. A worse 2012 LSU team SHOULD have beaten the 2012 Alabama team. Had the game won. You argument is invalid.
LSU played the first 2011 game on the road. They were better in that first game. Alabama was better in the second.
The 2011 LSU team would have beaten the 2012 Alabama team handily. Especially in Tiger Stadium.

If the thread title were "Best statistical SEC Teams since 2005" there would be much less disagreement, but what fun would that be, right?
Not including the outcomes is the only way that a 2010 Auburn team can be excluded or an A&M team included.

quote:teams that are themselves not on the "best" list. Let's face it, beating Bama is what got them on the list, right?!?
2012 Texas A&M should not even be near top 10
Why? Their last 6 games they beat MSU by 25, won @ #1 Alabama, beat OU by 30 in the Cotton Bowl. They lost by 3 to Top 5 Florida and 5 to Top 15 LSU.

LSU had a better QB in 2012, and had the advantage of playing at home. 2012 Bama has enough defense to still beat 2011 LSU
I think 2012 Bama beats 98% or so of teams to ever play college ball. Their power run game with lacy and Yeldon with a dominating O line is something most teams can't match up against. Most defenses don't have the beef in the front 7 to stop 2012 Bamas run game

Probably, but I'd put 2008 Florida above both 2011 Alabama and LSU, but I'd make those 3 the best overall
No

It is splitting hairs. I just don't think 2008 would beat the 2011 Alabama and LSU teams. Their offense was good, I just feel those two teams would stonewall Florida's offense without a legitimate runner.
This. The 2011 Bama and LSU defenses could shut down the run game of 08 Florida and force Tebow to beat them with his arm. I just don't see that happening.
Tebow was successful against 2008 Bama, but 2011 Bama/LSU were different animals
Lastly, 2011 Bama/LSU could muster up just enough offense to beat 08 UF.

The gumps taking this list as some sort of ranking of how good a team was are funny.
Just reminding us how dumb they are .
