It didn't get brought over from France?
Mardi Gras Point, founded in 1699, was in AL?

BTW, what you know as "Alabama, the home of Mardi Gras", was actually "Louisiana" in 1702(or 1703?) when Mardi Gras was brought over by Bienville, who is recognized as a governor of Louisiana.

Yeah I know Mobile was the first capital of Louisiana

Mobile being a much sought after city decided to be a part of Alabama after rejecting Louisiana, Florida, and Mississippi

What sets Alabama apart from a NOLA-less Louisiana and Mississippi?
Outside of a 30 for 30 documentary and a few Klansmen, nobody can identify what Alabama culture is, including yourselves. That is why y'all use football as a means to identify yourselves.

I don't think Mobile had too much of a choice in the matter after the treaty of Fontainebleau and the continual changing of hands between the French and the Spanish

shite man, David Duke wasn't half the politician of George Wallace. Duke never won anything worth a shite to too many people in Louisiana.

Tennessee has all these States beat. We have mountains in the East, numerous waterfalls and rolling hills in the middle, and the Mighty majestic Mississippi in the West. Our population is evenly distributed (unlike Georgia) among the 5 beautiful and cultural centers known as Knoxville, Nashville, Memphis, Chattanooga and the Tri-Cities (Bristol, Kingsport, Johnson City). Lakes abound and so do friendly people. Our climate is slightly cooler than the lower South, but we get almost zero snow (except in the higher elevations), and last January was filled with 60 degree days. Our State also has thirty 4-year private colleges and no State income tax. Every State surrounding Tennessee has a State income tax, but not us.

Obviously this isn't based on outdoors but everyones proud of something from their state & this is a lot of ours. Hard to find a more beautiful outdoors area in the SEC

ETA: Little bit of a Knoxville Homer , but every state has something to bring to the table ( Besides MS .. sorry guys )

The fact that it doesn't have a coastline is a pretty big knock on it.

Alabama is easily the trailer park of the SEC.

Good people in the state but as far as a destination for vacation or site seeing, it is nothing. A group of 21-24 year old young adults from Colorado, Nevada , or Washington don't sit around and plan trips to Alabama.
