It was at a bunch of them. I was bored to tears. Maybe my expectations were too high, I don't know.

I think an Ole Miss tailgate fricked his girlfriend or something. He does this in every thread where the Grove is discussed.

From my experience
1. Ole Miss
2. LSU
3. Arkansas (Only went to Fayetteville in 2000)
4. Never been to Missouri

aTM 2013 road games
9/28 @ Hogs in Fayetteville
10/12 @ Rebels in Oxford
11/23 @ LSU in Baton Rouge
11/30 @ Mizz in Columbia

I've been to the first three. Can't comment on Mizzou yet until after this coming season.

With regard to the first three, Ole Miss is probably a little bit overrated imho. I've been fifty times if I've been once because I used to live in Olive Branch and would go to games there all the time ... matter of fact, I was there for the Chucky Mullins game in '89. I went to a bunch of the Billy Brewer games because I knew his brother very well.

Anyways, Ole Miss is a nice place, we go every time we play them there just to visit old friends, but imho it is not the greatest tailgaiting experience in the SEC. And BTW, SC girls were wearing little black dresses to games in the sixties long before Ole Miss girls started doing it in the 70s. Matter of fact it was during the series of games between SC and Ole Miss in the 70s that Charlie McAlexander (and he was the one that admitted this later when he was doing play-by-play for South Carolina from 95-03) ... but when Cholly Mac was doing play-by-play for Ole Miss in the 70s he remarked how pretty the Gamecock girls were in their little black dresses and how nice it would be to see Ole Miss girls do something similar ... and that's how it started at Ole Miss around '72.

But everyone should see a game at Ole Miss at least once. It's a nice place. Plus there are some gambling opportunities within a hop, skip and a jump of Oxford, and a ton of good Civil War sights to see.

Now, I would put LSU at the top of the list out of those three above. It didn't used to be that way, but once Skip took over as AD they really cleaned-it-up and took control of the craziness and it is a great place to see a game now. Fans are fine. You're going to catch hell in the stands but that's okay - it's not like it used to be a mere ten or twelve years ago. Plus, you're not far from New Orleans when you go to Baton Rouge. The two sort of go hand in hand for many making the trip.

LSU would be tops on my list.

Fayetteville is actually a pretty good place to see a game. Rowdy fans, plenty of things to do and see. Loud stadium of course.

Anyways, that's my two cents.

I really want to make Arkansas and LSU this year. Arkie because I never made it up there when I was in school and we may not play in Fayetteville for a while so it should be cool. LSU because if the atmosphere was as good as it was for an 11AM game this year in CS it is going to be insane in BR.

I'm also glad to hear that things have gotten more civil, it certainly felt different this year as well. When I was in school and we played LSU every year it got ugly often and going to BR meant you better watch your arse. Now it sounds more like some good natured ribbing and there is a lot more of a bond with us both in the SEC now.

LSU/A&M also allows for the epic marriage of Texas BBQ and Louisiana Cajun tailgating which is enough reason to go by itself. Even with the early start last year the sight and more importantly smell of huge smokers at one tailgate and gumbo at the next was just too awesome. It should be a requirement this is a night game every year for this reason.

Arkansas has lots of tailgating, and the setting of our stadium is probably tops in the SEC. It sits in a ravine, and to the south you have mountain views. If you are tailgating north of the stadium, you can see into the stadium from above, and the Ozarks beyond.

West of the stadium - Markham Hill (AKA "The Treefort" area:

North of the Stadium, north of Maple Street, Victory Village area:

Note mountain views...

North adjacent to the stadium, The Pit:

The biggest flat, open area for tailgating is south of the stadium, called The Gardens. That's where the band and cheerleaders and mascot stop by before the game.
