Ohio State has a great duo with Urban Meyer and Thad Matta. You can make a strong argument for the Buckeye duo. Michigan State is rolling with Mark Dantonio and Tom Izzo.....as well as Rick Pitino and Bobby Petrino at Louisville.
All of these are better than AU's duo.

National titles between them - 0
Posted on 3/18/14 at 11:14 pm to auburnu008
Top 5, in no particular order:
Ohio State: Meyer/Matta
Michigan State: Dantonio/Izzo
Duke: Cutcliffe/K.
UL: Petrino/Pitino
Florida: Boom/Donovan
Not coincidentally, every pair there has a national title winner to go with a top-quality coach in the other sport. Indeed, with the exception of Michigan State, and Izzo has come pretty close, the coach in question has multiple national titles.
After those, the drop-off is pretty damned steep.

Don't you go giving Gus credit for Gene's national title.

Les Miles and Paul Mainieri ... USC would be the only other school that comes close.

Actually, they both have NC rings. Pearl in DII as a HC. Gus was the HC, or so most of the gumps said, when Coach Chiz was our HC. Either way, they both have won NC's. Bottom line, we hired the best available HC who also happens to be one of the best HC's in the nation. Gus has proven he is not only one of the best young HC's in the nation, he is one of the best HC's period. I will put that duo up against any HC duo in the SEC.
