Despite the outdated and/or incorrect data posted so far in this thread, this is actually an interesting topic. When have SEC teams met in national-level championship games for the major sports? Off the top of my head, both Bama and LSU do quite well:

Football--2011: Alabama 21, LSU 0 (BCS National title)
Basketball--1986: LSU 59, Kentucky 57 (NCAA Regional title)
Baseball--1997: LSU 13, Alabama 6 (NCAA National title)
Baseball--1999: Alabama 13, LSU 5 (NCAA Super Regional title)
Baseball--2011: South Carolina 5, Florida 2 (NCAA National title)

The all time head to head was used as supporting information after the national championships, sec championships, sec tournament titles were discussed.

Also, Alabama and Texas have only played about 9 times in football...'Not over a hundred times like bama and lsu in basketball and baseball. I guarantee you if bama and Texas had played every year in football then bama would lead all time series.

Head to head does not outweigh championships, all time win percentage, but it, like sec tournaments, does mean something.

If the head to head and tournaments don't mean anything then what's the point of playing??? Why do so many kentucky fans go to basketball tournament? Why does lsu sellout home baseball games?? Why are most sec stadiums sold out every Saturday in the fall?

Because the games mean soo much to the players, coaches, fans, etc.

On top of owning lsu in the head to head in all 3 sports, bama has a much better football and basketball win % all time than lsu. Suprisingly, alabama also has a better win % than lsu in baseball... Look it up

Bama has more;

Combined national titles
Combined sec championships
Combined Sec tournament championships
Head to head wins in all 3 sports

Final fours don't mean shite... If your gonna use that argument then bama can use all the times they were ranked in the top 4 in football at the end of the season which doesn't mean much to me or most all bama fans. If ya can count final fours then I'm gonna count all the times bama has been better than lsu in the 3 sports on the field/court...

Wow - 14 pages and only 2 Bammers. Kinda impressed.

Alabama is clearly #1 in football and is in the top 1/3 in basketball and baseball. We have been consistently solid in both sports but have never gotten over the hump (FF in BBALL, CWS Title in Baseball). So we have been good for longer than most, but others have reached higher heights.

The Alabama basketball teams of the 80's and baseball teams of the 90's were elite, but they never broke the glass ceiling. Since then both have been solid but never gotten close to the level we reached in those periods.

So in conclusion, this conversation is the definition of OHMYGAWD MY TEAM IS BETTER LOOK AT MY HANDPICKED STATS.

Wow. So elite to you is never making an elite 8 in the ncaa tourney during the era you mentioned and never winning a cws?

Football? Yes. You aren't top 4 im basketball and you arent top 6 in baseball. The only people that think bama is top 3 in basketball and baseball is gumps.

Bama has 1 elite 8 appearance in the entire history of the ncaa tourney and bama has never won a national title in baseball.

Bama is in the 3 in conference titles and tournament titles in both and owns winning records against all but 1-2 programs in the league in both. The downside is no major national accomplishments (outside of CWS runs in the 90s). That puts us in the 4-5 range in both.

Vanderbilt doesn't suddenly erase 90 years of miserable baseball history with 1 title. Come on, that's ridiculous.

I wouldn't argue Alabama is the best all around because of the lack of national accomplishments, but outside the top 6 in baseball historically? That's just stupid.

Also, the Top 1/3 would be Top 5, not top 3. The league has 14 schools, not 9.

Exactly, it's pretty short-sighted to say final fours aren't as important as Bama beating LSU basketball more in the 60s

definitely not going through all of these pages of useless bs. LSU and Bama are both in the top 1/3 in the "Big 3"

That should tell you all you need to know. Better winning % but no one honestly think Alabama is the better program. Same with basketball

Not in regular season titles. Tourney titles are meaningless. A lot of sec teams rest their players during the sec tourney.

Then why does sec call sec tournaments a championship?

Teams rest players during regular season too. You are being narrow minded.

Why do you keep saying the Top 3? "1/3" = ONE THIRD = Top 4/5

The SEC title is handed out before the tournament.

Vandy baseball has an all time losing SEC record. They are not in the Top 5 all-time regardless of the incredible job Corbin has done the last 10 years.

Its called the SEC TOURNAMENT CHAMP.

Not the sec champ.

No they dont. Teams dont rest players in the sec regular season. Thats nothing but wrong.
Its common knowledge that the regular season sec title is far more prestigious. The SEC TOURNEY gives mediocre SEC TEAMS a chance at making the ncaa tourney. For example in 2000 arkansas won the sec tourney title while having a losing sec record and having the 7th best record in the sec.

Answer is bama.

Most national championships in the 3,
Most Sec championships in the 3 any way ya look at it. Sec tournaments included or not. Most sec tournament titles in all 3

Bama has more all time wins and win percentage than lsu in all 3 sports

Bama has waaaay more head to head wins in all 3 sports

How is lsu the better all time program when all 3 are considered?

I don't think a logical person could say anyone but bama in the sec

You realize the SECT also gives mediocre teams the chance to drastically increSe their seeding or play their way out, right?

The only teams that would consider resting guys are teams locked into #1 seeds, and kentucky plays their guys and tries to win the tournament (as did florida most years). Find me another team that treated the SECT like an exhibition tourney. That's just ridiculous.

They call it SEC tournament championship

Any team can get hot over a 3-4 day period and win the tournament. As opposed to a regular season champ whose title is earned over months of conference play.
