This is a false statement. I guess you are too young to remember much before Doug Dickey.

So are you just going to be pissy and whiny the next 2-4 years?

To have a consistent championship winning program you need a marriage of two things: a great coach and a program that has the potential to be great.
So trying to put Florida down implying "only" Spurrier and Meyer can succeed there is ridiculous.
There is NOT ONE single program that any coach can just walk in there and success in guaranteed. no one. Bama, USC, LSU, Florida, Notre Dame.... have been consistent winners for long stretches…... but have also been mediocre at times when the right leadership has not been in place.
So that means to win big you need a coach AND a program that can reach those heights. That’s bad news for perennially mediocre programs like South Carolina and Texas A&M. Sorry.

We were around Auburn's level for a long time (until Spurrier), but just couldn't seem to get it done. Even when we got it done, we didn't win anything.
Hell, going into 1988 I believe, Tulane had more SEC Championships than Florida and Auburn combined

besides bear Bryant and sabin, who else won at bama?
two coaches that win A LOT can skew a lot of stats and crystalize a lot perceptions.

No one... aside from a few golden years, UF is irrelevant historically. That said, Muschamp would be an amazingly shitty hire for you guys.
and yet, he managed to go UNDEFEATED against the Vols

Who put florida down???
Did UF not win ALL there championships within the last 25-30 under TWO COACHES???
You have an opinion I'm talking about FACTS. Can anyone win at Florida with what they produce talent wise??? Apparently not since only two coaches did so is all I'm saying. People in these threads talking like Florida is the standard by which all other coaches are measured in there ability.
Like the LSU poster said two coaches who do ALOT of winning can skew a lot of stats and perceptions.
Is will muschamp the Answer for USC??? I couldn't really tell you.
The only thing I can tell you is judging a coaches ability to win from one school to another isn't very smart. Aren't you the one the one that said there's not one single program that any coach can walk in and there success is guaranteed???
Well why automatically assume that muschamp is going to have a hard time winning at USC??? I don't know what A&M has to do with this.
Your kind of talking out of both sides of your mouth.

Most people will never know this because UF's administration has buried it under the rug BUT Charlie Pell was the most influential HC at UF. Without Pell, there would have never been a Spurrier, Urban Meyer, Gator Nation, etc., etc... Pell was a winner wherever he went. All SEC linebacker under the Bear at Bama, national finals at Jacksonville State, and laid the building blocks of Clemson football. People throw the term of "cheater" to his name because they obviously didn't know him nor college football at that time.
Pell came to UF at a time when the football program was in shambles. We had huge drug issues, zero discipline, players use to pack guns to class, plus serious racial issues in all of UF athletics programs. The football team was split with whites on one side, blacks on the other and drug dealers in the middle. Pell came in and cleaned house. He kicked off two dozen guys in a dorm drug/gun raid. The facilities at UF was the worst in the country. Our weight room had one universal machine... One. Nothing else. Yon Hall, where the athletes lived, smelled like Bourbon Street, with piss in the halls. Pell came in with a vision.
He created the Bull Gator booster program. He knew the program needed money. Not just football but all the other sports as well. He was an incredible visionary. He could paint a picture and put you in the picture. Not where UF was but where UF was going. Dave Thomas of Wendy's paid for the weight room, Ben Hill Griffin paved the way for renovations of Florida Field. Sonny Tillman would supply food for the athletes.
Pell got people involved. A splintered alumni came together under Pell. People would donate their last little pennies to help the program. People with money and people who didn't have money came on board Gator Nation. Pell sold the dream to recruits. The 83 roster had 27 NFL players. We were dominating the state in recruiting. People started getting jealous of UF, finger pointing, rumors, etc. UF football was about to go to the next level when the NCAA hammer came down. Their witch hunt basically could have been any other program.
Pell took the fall for a couple of guys that were cheating. But back in those days everyone was cheating... Everyone. Auburn and Georgia went on probation twice each, LSU, UT, Ole Miss and Mizzou had major violations, Miami went on probation in 81 and FSU went in 1984. The Big 8, Southwest conference and the ACC were just as bad. An NCAA official later admitted that they were going to investigate either UF or another big school up north but since the weather was better in Florida they decided to go after UF. FSU and Miami were able to capitalize for the excessive sanctions the NCAA gave UF which was only surpassed by SMU getting the death penalty. UF would have owned the state of Florida had it not been for the NCAA.
Pell was a great coach but a better man. He knew how to get the best out of you and he would always tell you the truth. The NCAA destroyed a good man and UF will never admit that he made UF athletics.

Only reason UF is successful now is because of Pell and his chesting

If I listed the violations the NCAA submitted, you would laugh at most of them. It was a witch hunt. Recruits came to UF not because he was cheating (everyone was cheating including your program) but because he was a winner and everyone knew he was going to bring a title to UF. People don't follow money... They follow people.
