USC was just better than Alabama in 1970, that's why they won. What gets left out a lot of times is that the same Alabama team went out to Los Angeles the next year and beat USC in the Coliseum to open the season. But, that doesn't fit into the story line so well.

besides ND was lucky why did ND own the Bear? No way Ara was a better coach than Bear right? a bit simplistic

Was it the offensive system? speed? game management, but that would imply Bear being out coached...

was it just better players?

should the FBI investigate?

Same reason Houston Nutt owned Les Miles. Sometimes a coach just has someone's number.

Sometimes even the best coaches have a thorn in their sides. Asa was Bear's. Whether it was better players, coaching, luck or a mix of all in the total losses, Bear just couldn't break that hump. Bama was 0-7-1 against Texas before 2009, with 4 of those belonging to the Bear.

Started to put it that way, but went with the thorn analogy. Christmas spirit and all.

You just had to do it...3-3 does not equate to OWNING

I'm outta here after the Nutt BS post, but I give myself a B- for my first thread...

Houston Nutt shouldn't be even with anyone of Les Miles' caliber.

I guess I just remember the two losses in a row to Ole Miss after the loss to Arkansas more than I remember him winning anything. It's how he's remembered by most fans not associated with LSU.

Most of the baby boomer generation of Bama fans despises Notre Dame like my father and uncles. Those losses in the 70's really hurt that generation of Bama fans. I've never really had any animus towards ND because i didn't experience those losses. I do find it funny though that many Auburn fans had bumper stickers back then that said "I'm An Irish War Eagle"......

I never disliked them more than any other team, all losses back then stung mostly because they were so rare. That said, of teams I would really want Bama to beat, ND is up there with Texas, USC, Mich, Ohio St...

I guess since we read it on the internet it must be true....Of course the guy quoted thinks ND has been a NC contender the past 20 years.
