I know UF's worst loss was to GA Southern, but the most disappointing for me was the 2013 Sugar Bowl against Louisville.

BCS Era?
2000 - at Notre Dame (another R.C. special)
2005 - at Clemson (Franchione kicked the PAT up 1)
2008 - Arkansas State (11 point halftime lead)
2011 - Arkansas (18 point halftime lead)
With all the other OOC losses in the BCS era, we were clearly overmatched.

Losing by 3 in a BCS bowl isn't that embarrassing.
Yes
Getting blown out in the first half before deciding to play football was embarrassing especially when we were the overwhelming favorite.

They were the better football team. We lost to them because they were better. Their name being "boise state" shouldnt' change anything. I'll also point out we played Boise prior to that year and beat them by about 4 touchdowns.
Boise was a good team, but beating an SEC blueblood gave them a lot of credibility.
Sample of Other losses:
2013 Clemson
2013 Nebraska
2011 Michigan State
2010 UCF
2009 Oklahoma State
2008 Georgia Tech
2005 West Virginia
That's a lot of losses for a Big 6 team, especially to teams outside of the region.
I'm not posting about UGA anymore. You're obviously a top notch program with a lot of big wins also and I'm not trying to flame anyone.

ULM or Ohio State

I see that the title was edited to disappointing, so I can see where you're coming from there.
Embarassing? No.
They were 10-1 and ranked 12th going into the game. Their only loss was to #3 VT. We were ranked 3 spots ahead of them going into it. They also had one of the most dynamic backfields in the country. Everyone only wants to point to the first 18 minutes, which was bad, but we were only down 10 at halftime. We lost by 3. That's disappointing but it's not nearly as embarrassing as you make it out to be. Just because they are West Virginia doesn't mean they aren't good.
UF losing to Louisville, bama losing to Utah, and on and on are far worse losses.

The problem with the UGA loss to Boise was the hype. We (SEC) have always claimed that Boise was a pussy team and could not beat a big boy team.
Not only did they beat UGA, they came to UGA's playground and just out maned them.
Not beating up on UGA. Boise would have pounded Auburn in the ground as well. But it was a bad bad loss.

We got blown out the first quarter. It was 35-10 us after the first possession of the 2nd quarter to the end.

Actually, I didn't edit it. Interesting...

So it was embarrassing for UGA because they had the balls to play them?

We haven't lost a regular season OOC game since '02 at Virginia Tech, and before that '00 UAB and '99 Houston.
Disappointed in last second 4th and 16 converting 1 point bowl loss to Clemson in '12 and last minute bowl loss to Penn State in '09. Miles only 2 OOC bowl losses - 6-3 overall....

2013 Clemson- lost by 3 on the road in the season opener
2013 Nebraska- lost by 1 possession in a bowl game
2011 Michigan state- lost in 3OT
2010 UCF- lost in bowl game during a 6 win season
09 OSU- lost on the road in the opener. 8 win season
08 GT- first year facing the option. One of GT's best seasons since 2000
05 WVU- already mentioned in another post.
I swear some of yall simply pick out which team has more history and think that team should win every game. 08 GT and 10 UCF are the only 2 games that are simply inexcusable. The others we either played a damn good team, or we just sucked. Just because you lose a game doesn't automatically make it embarrassing.

Yes. Catch 22 with that one.
Just like Payton Manning and LaBron James. They would have caught way less grief had they not even made it to the championship.

Remember the Maine.
That game was surreal. As shitty as our team was, we were an SEC team playing a 5-6 FCS team. We looked like it. Four turnovers inside their 10 yard line and we had a 7-6 lead in the fourth quarter when it should have been 35-6. They got enough in them to kick a FG and beat us 9-7.
That same team picked off Florida that year. It was weird and very disappointing. 2008 Louisiana Tech was as well because Croom had finally gotten to a bowl in '07 and we had some momentum. La. Tech was horrible and destroyed us.

Maybe if more teams played them while Boise was good they'd have beaten more teams. Up to now Boise's SEC opponents have been average to good SEC teams, all of which destroyed them (yes, UGA included!) The only SEC team to face them when they were "BOISE STATE" good was us.

Every loss is bad. You never want to lose a game. But it's not NEARLY as embarrassing as people make it out to be.

In the super bowl or NBA finals, it's 2 evenly matched teams that went through a regular season to seed themselves in the playoffs, then won each stage of their division playoffs to earn the right at the finals.
UGA/Boise was a game between 2 teams. There was no winning to put each other there. They were better than us, we lost. If we had played and lost to Oregon instead, would that have been embarrassing too?

What a winning attitude. No wonder most SEC teams are such pussy schedulers. "Losing to them would be more embarrassing than being too soft to play them at all."
Boise St. was miles better than every SEC team but Alabama and LSU that year. Maybe Arkansas.

It should also be noted that UGA plays tough OOC opponents early on, even knowing that there will always be significant players suspended, due to the UGA suspension policy. In that Boise State game, UGA didn't have a couple of starters from the get go, and then also lost starting MLBs to injury during the game. A former walk-on was actually playing at MLB during that game. That is never good when dealing with a QB and offense as experienced as Boise State was that year, and if you go back and watch that game, it was the TE match up on the MLB that UGA was having a hard time defending in the second half. I was at the game. I also blame those shitty arse uniforms for UGA playing like crap. Who wants to be a damn Power Ranger.
If we are going to include bowl games, then go ahead and add a Clemson loss to LSU's ledger as well after they were up quite significantly in the second half.
