What has happened here? I have no idea why there are only a few hundred left on Stubhub, and pairs are now going for 6K on Ebay.

Why is this such a hard ticket, and has anybody ever seen this before.

I have a buddy who swears the tickets will be close to face value right before kickoff or a little above, but from every single report, as well as the ticket broker stories, including Stubhub sellers backing out, it seems like the prices aren't going down.

What's the deal? And are we in unchartered waters here. I'm not sure if I can even make the trip if I have to fork out an arm and a leg for tickets.

This is a major deal for both teams. Demand is exceptionally high.

Hasn't occurred before.

Hell, when LSU was playing in the dome, for their first, you'd think you would hear about these stories.

Why Auburn and Oregon. I'm baffled.

What's happening is unprecedented in ticket business.

Tell your buddy there is no way in hell that tickets will drop to anywhere near face value.

Normally for a NC game there are a few thousand tickets out there. I've heard estimates into the hundreds for this game which is just ridiculous.

I think the combination of both fanbases having never been here and the size of the stadium effected the prices, or more distinctly the supply and demand.

OU was in the BCSCG in 2000. Not to mention the game was in NOLA. Tons of local sponsor tickets passed on for face or for free/cheap instead of these companies listing them on EBAY.

I think it is also a TON of national interest. I expect TV ratings to exceed last year's Bama/ Texas game.

The brokers over sold...they sell early on hoping to flip and make a profit...the prices, unlike a lot of games, didn't come down..in fact, they have quadrupled at the minimum..so the brokers are now having to refund tickets they sold in november and early december b/c they can't get them and definately can't make a profit..
If you are selling a ticket you could probably name your price in Glendale and get it..4k per ticket is NOT a stretch

see this link for someone "in the business"..shite will blow your mind

Well, I know that the venue yall are playing at is significantly smaller than the Rose Bowl.

Definitely possible. With ESPN having the BCS now it gets all kinds of pub.

Also, Cam is a lightning rod and one hell of a football player.

And it's basically an extra week of Monday night football where Bama/UT was on a Thursday.

This is a bragging right I don't want to have... Highest cost tickets in any BCSNC.

UoP Stadium and the Superdome both hold 72,000.

Sun Life holds 75,000

Rose Bowl holds 92,000

FWIW: Cowboys Stadium holds 80,000 to 110,000...something tells me they'll be getting a BCS game soon.

The ratings wont be higher for no other reason than the game is on ESPN and not ABC. The ratings for the other BCS games have been way down. The ratings for the Rose were down 15% and the Fiesta was down 22%

That mofo may get shanked in Phoenix. Ticket brokers aren't the best set of people around.

Give it to the Chick-fil-a bowl. College football hall of fame is going to be here as well. The dome isn't too bad.

I actually think that with ESPN having the game it will hurt the ratings. I know that the numbers are small, but there are still people in the country that don't have cable. Not to say that the game Monday won't outdraw the Bama/Texas game, but I think it would have higher ratings if it was on an over the air as opposed to cable network.

Exactly. I expect ratings to be way down from last year for primarily this reason.
