Do Baylor fans realize they're Baylor?
LOL @ Les Miles, Chip Kelly and Kirby Smart even being remote possibilities. "Just throw 7 mil a year at them"
Like Baylor would do that

Jesus.
I think I see the problem, the Big 8 has contracted a SWC infestation. They need to eradicate the Texas parasites from their once proud conference. Maybe then the wayward schools would come back to the fold.

UT's objection to Big 12 expansion is significant despite silly reasoning
Perrin's desire to stay at 10 teams carries weight despite silly logic

It is like living in a third-world country, eagerly preparing to enter the United States for the first time and hearing the President insist during a State of the Union address there's no way in heck you're getting in - just as you're about to have your passport stamped.
OK. The University of Houston's current conference really isn't that bad. And Texas athletic director Mike Perrin only has his job because Steve Patterson was such a snake.
But let's be real: Could the grand opening of the much-ballyhooed Big 12 spring meetings have gone any worse for the Cougars? Other than Charlie Strong stepping down and Tom Herman driving up to Austin on the same day, no way.
The mean ol' Longhorns - public bullies despite fielding a 5-7 football team last year - appeared to shoot a hole through UH's expansion heart with just a few words Wednesday.
"The prudent thing for us to do as a conference is stay where we are," said Perrin, an apparent isolationist.
Then Patterson's replacement said something even more idiotic.

"Certainly we're in the Houston market," Perrin said. "The Longhorn Network is there."
Um, Mike? Can we talk for a minute?
Must-not-see TV
Now, I don't want to speak for everyone living in the fourth-largest city in America. But let me put it this way: I've never watched the Longhorn Network. I have a pretty good feeling I will never watch your school's stupid TV station. And I honestly wouldn't even know what channel to find it on if I did want to see Mack Brown interviewing a cow or the grainy rebroadcast of a football game from 1969.
Actually, let me speak for the vast majority of this city's sports-obsessed residents: Saying the Longhorns and the Big 12 are "in" Houston because of a network only a few misguided souls dare to watch is like declaring 11-14 under Strong a promising start.
And I thought Texas was a smart school.
No matter how dumb Perrin sounded, his words were heard. And it's the last thing the Coog cult needed as it waited for something good to finally come out of Irving.
As watered down as the Big 12 has become, Texas and Oklahoma - the latter at least acknowledges the world is round - still carry the conference. If one of the Big Two casually flick you away like an annoying fly without even pausing to think? Good luck breaking down the front door.
Red McCombs, who might know which channel the Longhorn Network is on, has proudly been selling UH like a 2016 Ford. The restless billionaire inched me closer toward buying a new car by correctly attaching "dead wrong" to Perrin's comments.
"It's naive, at least, to say that we already have a big presence with the University of Texas in Houston," McCombs told KRIV on Thursday. "We've had enough mistakes made on the UT side the last two years. I hope they don't compound it by another one."
Yahoo! Go get 'em, cowboy.
Didn't take the bait
UH wisely didn't respond to Perrin's schoolyard tease. The Coogs believe they have support in Austin outside of the AD's office. UH also knows it needs Texas as an ally if the Big 12 ever gets its act together and decides to modernize in the new millennium.
A school that has sunk $240 million into facility upgrades is eyeing other cross-country options -start with the Pac-12, go from there - while balancing instant fan gratification with the understanding that the Power 5 is set for another earthquake when major TV deals start to expire in 2023.
My personal problem with that long-term play: Herman could be two schools down the road by the time the Coogs finally find a real conference to call home.
The Big 12 isn't doing anything - other than debating the eligibility of walk-on transfers - unless the new money's right and Texas keeps its prime slice of the pie.
That's what Perrin really told you, me, UH and every other school willing to sell the family heirlooms just for a shot at exchanging the American Athletic Conference for a Power 5 ticket.
It's always about the cash flow and this is all about TV dough. Also, if Texas doesn't want you, you're probably not getting in.
The Big 12 doesn't have a championship game or conference network and is two athletic programs short of a full deck.
But it has the Longhorn Network (if you can find it). And Texas' precious $300 million baby obviously isn't holding the Big 12 back.

A lot of us doubted that Arkansas could steal a Power 5 coach that went to three Rose Bowls. Stranger things have happened.

Is so delusional about UHs place in college athletics. Always has been, always will be. UH should look at the PAC-12 since the Big-12 has jilted them? LOL! UH is nowhere on the PAC's radar. It's embarrassing to even consider.

you are a plus to the SEC and you would be suckin' hind tit in the Big 12 thanks to TU and OU being the only two votes that count over there.
the Big 12 is in a bad spot and I don't think they can get out of it without major bloodshed. the do not have a conference network and can't without buying tejas out of the longhorn deal. they don't have a conference championship game w/o expansion and expansion will cause each team to lose more revenue than the conference game brings in.
in short, there are not two programs available that would bring the conference monetary value. other than OU, the other schools are just hanging in the wind with no control over their long term destiny.

Yeah they really blew it when they let Louisville go to the ACC. UK fans might not want to hear it but I think that was the misfire that killed the Big 12. If they would have expanded to 12 in 2011 with Louisville and Cincy/BYU they would be a lot better off right now.

There options now are pretty sad. Cincy/UCF/Memphis/Houston
Don't see how they can add any of those teams and add revenue to each school after splitting the pie two more times.
