Quite the opposite, we need more good coaches in the SEC. If Pearl can turn Auburn into a perennial top 100 team it will be good for the conference as a whole.
Agree. He makes the conference better. I hope he does well at Auburn. The SEC needs more depth in basketball.

Auburn also offering season tickets for 2014 only (non renewable) for only $350 and not requiring a donation. If I were an Arkansas or LSU fan, I would jump on this.
Not being able to renew this next year is because Alabama and Georgia, AU's biggest rivals will play at Jordan Hare in 2015.

Really? Did you read the article?
quote:
Auburn University's athletics department reported a deficit of $865,994 for its 2013 fiscal year, according to the university's most recent NCAA financial report.
A single season deficit. I'd be curious to see why this was. Buyouts I presume. Which I'd gladly pay to have Bruce Pearl over Tony Barbee.
quote:
Auburn reported a surplus of $8.8 million in 2011-12, the year before Gene Chizik's disastrous final season as football coach.
Ran a surplus in 2012.
quote:
Auburn Senior Associate Athletics Director Jack Smith said the athletics department drew upon a cash reserve of more than $15 million to cover last year's operating deficit.
Took the loss out of a total athletic surplus of over $15 million. That leaves surplus monies in the athletic department of over $14 million dollars.
I had always recommended Bama's business school over Auburn's. Perhaps I need to rethink that.....

Barbee's buyout will affect the 2014 bottom line... Chizik and staff's buyout affected 2013.
regardless... money well spent... just that jacobs was a moron for giving Chiz such a big extension/raise after 2010.

But why the non renewable season tickets for this season? Surely they can sell out their allotment. No?

This marked the first time Auburn listed a deficit since AL.com began tracking college athletics financial data eight years ago.
