So Arkansas managed to win their glorified exhibition. Did they not get the memo?

Somewhere around 50% of the teams that played in those glorified exhibitions won. Cool, huh?

there are literally no schools that don't claim ap and coaches poll titles. and bama won both in 64. pretty straightforward.

There is also one or two in the 1920's that the poll that they use to claim them wasn't invented until the 1940's

Saying any poll is credible before the AP poll started around 1938 is kind of ridiculous.

Nobody who is being honest would say they are undeserving of the claim.

Sure, but was it awarded at the time? I don't believe so, but my history is a little fuzzy. Those claims are as silly or as valid as going back and claiming the 84 one for Auburn, which most laugh at the notion of doing such. It may have been deserved, but that isn't the same thing as it being awarded. That's what makes that claim as silly as 41 to me.

However, as I said, even without those you have more than anybody so who really cares?

Yet, the supposed national champion wasn't in that number. Apparently, they are prize fighters or something.

name a school that has ever won the ap or coaches poll title that doesn't claim it.

They were celebrated as national champions at the time.

I'm not sayin that at all, I realize how different it was back then. The claim to those wasn't based on the AP poll though either. It was some weird pole done in like 1945 or something like that.

Is it just me or does the ceiling look kind of shitty and out of place around an otherwise beautiful display?

There may have not been an official award, but it was understood.

The 16th Chapel isn't that special. The first fifteen are way nicer.

Washington had to call timeouts to cool off while us "southerners" played with a "rare zest"

Yep, proof even back then Bama was just better at cheating than everyone else. Who knew they had deer antler spray in the 20's.

Just to be clear, that article and picture are from two different years. The article is from January 1926, the picture is from one of the two years in the 1930's.

Hahaha - how pathetic was Washington that January weather in Southern California made them have to call timeouts to cool off? Pac 12, pvssies even in the early 20th century.
