Everybody acts like Bama is the one-dimensional team yet they pass for 53 yards per game more than LSU.

I don't think that's a great idea with TR and our screen game.

Not completely one dimensional, but fairly close to it when it comes to offense. Trent pretty much is the offense. He was the reason Bama had a good number of passing yards

Why would LSU not be considered one dimensional then?

TOTAL OFFENSE G Rush Pass Plays Yards Avg/P TD Avg/G
1. Arkansas 12 1657 3693 822 5350 6.5 49 445.8
2. Alabama 12 2638 2563 796 5201 6.5 49 433.4
3. Georgia 13 2245 3135 945 5380 5.7 50 413.8
4. S. Carolina 12 2376 2129 813 4505 5.5 43 375.4
5. LSU 13 2797 2082 826 4879 5.9 56 375.3

Bama for the year:

2638 yards rushing on 473 attempts
2563 yards passing on 323 attempts

The attempts would be closer to even if we hadn't led every game but one by multiple TD's for most of the game.

And for the record, only 327 of those receiving yards belong to TR.

Maybe, but we have a quarterback who is a legitimate threat running the football

That's what RB's are for. We have a QB that can throw a football.

Better hope you don't have to rely on your wideouts to make a play

Our wideouts aren't superstars, but they're better than you think. Go back and watch how many times they beat your Heisman finalist.

CLM played bama straight up and won. This time I do not think the tigers will play a vanilla offense and not take any real chances down the field with RR and OBJ. So the passing game, short or long will probably be used to greater effect this game. Last game, what are you saving plays for?

When was the last time you saw Saban put a game in the QB's hands?

In all the big games this year for Bama, Richardson touched the ball on more than 45% of the total offensive plays against PSU, UF, MSU, LSU, and GSU. Hell, even in the Championship game against Texas, McElroy (who is much better than McCarron) only threw the ball 11 times.

The key to success for Saban is to stick with Richardson and execute, until he has no choice but to rely on his QB. Runs, dink and dunk passes out of the backfield and short WR pick passes. Key for LSU is to minimize Richardson's effectiveness in the game and you take Bama out of their comfort zone. In otherwords, how well our D-Lines handles their O-Line.

LSU on the otherhand has a lot more weapons since the first game against Bama. No one LSU back has touched the ball more than 25% of the time and that was Hilliard against Ark. LSU will hit the middle and run outside more in this game, the Bama safeties will have to be quick to move up for run support. Jefferson only played for less than 3 quarters in the first game and doesn't throw a lot of picks.

Bama prepared for Lee & JJ last time, and Lee had played MUCH more than JJ. It's all game planned for JJ now. Think the UGA Defense in the 1st Half. UGA has no depth.

He's a heisman finalist and our best offensive weapon. Who would you give the ball to?

Because he had broken ribs and Texas was playing with a backup QB. Saban didn't see much reason to throw the ball a lot.

McElroy (who is much better than McCarron)

2010 GMAC: 313 attemps, 222 completions, 70.9%, 20 TD, 5 INT, 229.8 ypg with the help of Julio Jones, and some close games where we passed it more.

2011 AJ: 294 attemps, 196 completions, 66.7%, 16 TD, 5 INT, 200.0 ypg without the help of a Julio Jones, and with huge leads in 11 games.

Are we going to play with 5 balls and put them all out there at once? If not, your two best backs would work just as well.

quote:

LSU will hit the middle and run outside more in this game

How do you know?

Bama's LB's are big, and they may not be as fast as the converted safeties LSU has playing LB, but it's not a defense you want to try running east and west on a lot.

quote:

Jefferson only played for less than 3 quarters in the first game

Because your coach obviously thought Lee gave you a better chance to win.

quote:

doesn't throw a lot of picks.

You could just change that to "doesn't throw the ball much, or particularly well."

Why is it that Bama's offense just struggled b/c of their own woes, but LSU's offense was shutdown by Bama's defense!!!!!!!!

That's just plain stupid to say something like that. You had 295 TOTAL yards to LSU's 235 TOTAL yards.

WOW, you guys really lit it up !!!

Your offense is so great, but you COULD NOT score from 30 yards away!!! REALLY???

That's not something I would be bragging about....who cares about you moving up and down the field between the 30s...for all I care, you can have 400+ yards in the BCSNC game b/c if you don't score it won't matter.

LOL....you couldn't punch it in with that "Packers" version of an offense you claim to have from 30 yards away.
