Is talent

247 Composite Rosters

There is a reason Bama assistants fail elsewhere.

EDIT Just a little perspective. Last year's draft had 5 five stars,17 four stars, and 9 three stars or lower in 31 picks. Considering there is only around 30 five stars every year, 300-400 four stars, and thousands of three stars then five stars are statistically superior.

That's outrageous.

frick that little gremlin can recruit.

16 composite 5*s on their roster to LSU's 6. #2 is USC with 10.

Bama is probably going to win because of their defensive line.

The gap is massive even between Bama and number two. The scary thing is it is only improving along with Saban's coaching staff.

Also, this is more proof Les Miles wasted more talent in Baton Rouge than most teams will ever see.

That's unreal.

To be fair, he recruited them there to begin with.

Pre-Saban LSU coaches didn't recruit nearly as well.

Dinardo started the great recruiting. The thing that really changed the game was when every team started playing on TV.

The most important thing in college football is to bring in talent. Les did that. Ask any Tennessee fan, it is better to waste talent than go 5-7 every year and hope for a bowl.

Total number of Alabama 4 or 5 stars: 60

Total number of LSU 4 or 5 stars: 56

To me the most impressive thing is getting these top tier kids to buy into the program and compete in the off season. A lot of these 4 and 5* guys can be entitled.

This. It's made a HUGE difference, however, not in BAMA's favor.... Bama was always on TV back in the day and they are on TV now. It's helped other teams that werent on the tube as much and teams like Tennessee that used to benefit from lots of TV time have suffered for it. Bama however, at least under Saban, hasn't. Hell we had pretty decent recruiting before saban got there, we just couldnt coach em for shite. Not saban level recruiting of course, but still decent.

the gap actually isn't that large if you look at the averages. Assuming 100 is the greatest, I cant imagine there is a huge difference between 93 and 91 ..

I think it helps, though. At other programs they can walk in and be stars. At Bama they have to work or they get processed. Either way Bama has turned into a machine.
