We should bump some of your early season basketball threads.

Not really a problem.

We've had Anthony Grant for 6 years so we've forgotten what great offensive basketball even looks like....

On paper it's a very good hire.

I don't know that you can compare it to Calipari yet though. Maybe after a few seasons...

This.

Anyone saying AJ will be better than Cal has gone full Bama. You should never go full Bama!

What difference does this make...? this is quite possibly the most ignorant statement floating...

We had rich rod all but packed to move and ended up with Saban... Grant was our 1st choice last time.. 1st 2nd or 3rd we got the best hire of anyone in a long time.

Clearly debatable. Not at all the factual conclusion you seem to believe it is.

Sorry. My mistake. It could end up being one of the best hires since Cal was hired at UK.

You have to be able to get the players and no kids want to go to that shithole called Coleman Coliseum

By all accounts, they have top notch facilities that the players will deal with on a day to day basis. I don't think that will play into it. What may play into it are things like AJ's workload being so much higher than what it is in the NBA, (I believe Wimp Sanderson brought this up as a concern.); and how will he deal with being a distant second to football/Saban? It remains to be seen.

With all that being said, I love your avatar.

Avery Johnson is the best hire this year and likely best since Calipari signed with UK.

Answer this:

- Is your coach highly respected by everyone?
- Does your coach have Major NBA connects?
- Is your coach on a video game?
- Did your coach avg over 60 wins a season at the highest level? (Dirk is just one player)
- Is your coach # retired?
- Did your coach hit the biggest shot to win an NBA title.
- is your coach a successful motivational speaker?
- Did your coach reach 150 wins faster than anyone in NBA history?

if you were a HS player and you were thinking NBA and you had Johnson, Howland, Barnes, Pearle or Marshall, for that matter coming to see you. .. who would you be more excited about?

Any questions about recruiting... non issue!
Any questions about Xs and Os.. really...? (Some seem to think college coaching is harder)

Avery Johnson is going to be a HUGE success at Bama so get ready for your series losing record vs Bama to get even wider (save for UK)

That is all and ROLL TIDE!

Ummmmmm...

I don't...

Ummmmmm...

OK.

Wow.

I think it'd be nice for a team that's not Kentucky to be good in the SEC, make SEC basketball a little less once dimensional (save for Florida every blue moon).
But not Bama. Bama has football. It's a sin to be good at 2 sports the sports gods wont allow it.

Didn't UF win the championships in FB and BB in the same year? (If not, really close.)

And NOW look at Florida. The sports gods have punished the Gators.

So you think it's a guarantee that a guy who's never coached/recruited is going to destroy Howland in recruiting?

We have better facilities, a proven college coach, and his long list of NBA players with several Stars. I'll take our chances.
