Chavis is a real pro for sure.

I think some people are forgetting how the Alabama-TAM game actually went down. Manziel, et al was actually well controlled for most of that game. He made a couple of freak-show, throw it up for grabs low percentage completions that were in fact well defended. Evans also made some great catches with defenders all over him. If Yeldon doesn't fumble on the 1 in the 4th quarter that would have put us back up by 21, Alabama wins the game by 3-4 touchdowns

LSU is more physical (i.e. dirty) and play like they're pissed off. That scared Johnny to the core, apparently

Could there be a more stupid comment.

Evans pushes off every play and never gets called for it and don't let me get started on how you O-Line held every play.

Just take your whipping like a man and don't call a team dirty.

this is the correct answer in my opinion:

re: Bama/LSU defense vs JFF (Posted on 11/24/13 at 1:04 pm to samson73103)
LSU has recruited lighter but faster DEs. Matches up with A&Ms offense pretty well. Didn't let JM get to the outside, play tight coverage, and force JM to run up the middle right into our LBs.

Of course A&M never running the ball with an actual RB helps too

lsu defensive front is typically faster and more athletic than bama whereas bama is bigger stronger. Hence, if we don't have depth and great middle lbs we are vulnerable right up the middle. (LIKE THIS YEAR) and typically lsu corners are better cover corners than bamas while bama has better tackling guys who are better versus the run. just very subtle differences but they allow us to match up better versus jff. plus later in the season and they are finally figuring it all out. next year if we get a quality middle lber we should be a top ten defense again.

They should have just run the ball more.

don't UA pay Saban a ton of money to watch films and figure that out?

So what gives? Is the scheme run by Chavis better against that type offense than the one implemented by Saban/Smart? I know LSU runs a base 4-3 and Bama a base 3-4 but both teams operate more often out of base formation. Anyway, it's clear that Chavis has JFF's number as they are the only team to make him look mortal each of the last two years. Just interested to hear opinions from some of the armchair coaches on the SECr on why LSU makes it look easy and Bama has struggled. I'll hang up and listen...

Actually, LSU ran a lot of 3 man line yesterday but I would not call it a 3-4 scheme. LSU ran a lot of mush rush as Bama calls it and which they have shown to know how to run it (i.e. 1/9/12). It surprised me that JFF was that effective against Bama last year and this one because they were so effective against JJ and they knew what was coming.

What I believe is the difference is that LSU LBs are lighter and faster than Bamas and JFF was able to deal with the heavy cruisers Bama uses as opposed to the speed guys we use. In the long run I would rather have the bigger guys but Chavis' Mustang package has put JFF's fire out twice now...

LSU always has a fast defense, while Alabama always has a strong defense.
