Pre poll Rose Bowl titles are 100% legit and are not going away. You're going to have to deal with it. Better yet, do some historical research to try and disprove it. You'll understand why we should claim them if you're being honest

I claim 11. The Ivy League claims titles from the days when no one but the Ivy League even played the fricking game.

LSU has precisely 47 national titles.

LSU and Arkansas have no shortage of national titles to boast about. Nor does Florida for that matter.

The most surprising thing about that list is that Rutgers still doesn't have one.

So bama just won number 20?
Dang.
Dang.

There are a couple things wrong with this sentence:
1) The NCAA doesn't recognize national champions for FBS football.
2) There were no "major selectors" until the 1930s -- anything before that was either (a) informal or (b) retrospective or (c) both.

Wrong. The Rose Bowl was not a title game. This is a myth perpetuated by Alabama fans.

Auburn decided not to claim 5. Bama has more than others in the SEC, but uses strange math

I think Princeton got one national title from beating Rutgers 6-4 in the very first college football game in 1869. Rutgers finished 2nd in the country, I guess, but I think they got screwed though because they played the toughest schedule in the country while Princeton played the weakest.

Dude c'mon. There is absolutely nothing academically ELITE about Alabama.

Obviously it does as the link in the post directly above yours attests. The NCAA doesn't AWARD national championship titles in football, there's a difference between recognizing a title and actually awarding a title.

Yes there were. There were many organizations awarding titles, some more prestigious than others. Those are the ones acknowledged by the NCAA and respective member institutions.
There were no major selectors that awarded LSU the title after the 1908 season, that's why the university only recognizes it as a regional title, "Champions of the South".

Teams that have won multiple national championships from "major selectors," as recognized by the NCAA itself: Princeton, 28 Yale, 27 Notre Dame, 22 Alabama, 20 Oklahoma, 17 USC, 17 Michigan, 16 Ohio State, 16 Harvard, 12 Nebraska, 11 Pittsburgh, 11 Miami, 9 Texas, 9 Florida State, 8 LSU, 8 Minnesota, 7 Penn State, 7 Tennessee, 7
This includes like Billinglsey, Dunkel Index, FCA, and other associations and publications.
And actually we aren't that far behind. We're 15 in this ranking.
But even with our 3 recognized consensus NCs in 58,03, and '07, College Football Warehouse has LSU as the #10 program in CFB all-time.
We are #8 all-time nationally in bowl apps and 11th in # of victories. Not too shabby........
And as far as NCs in all sports, I believe Arkansas and LSU are 1-2 in SEC. And Bama is """""""""""""""""far, far behind """"""""""""""".

It is a sign of a weak-minded person who has to pick on Princeton to make themselves feel taller.
Princeton's last national championship was in 1950, a year in which they had a Heisman winner as well.
Take note, that is well after the start of the poll era, and well after some of the national titles so revered by the Bammers and others. They also went undefeated in 1964 but by then they were in the Ivy League which has a rule against playing in the post season. So, by Bama's standards, Princeton has 29 national championships, and until Mark Ingram won the Heisman, it had more Heisman winners.
You are only proving you are a bunch of hypocrites.
