Nice wall of text. Im not going to read it, but i will just assume the proper response is 'go eat a bag of dicks'

That is actually a wall of facts presenting an actual football argument. I beg your also one of the people complaining about the poor quality of offseason threads that have no substance. Well, here you go...

Mr. Cool Guy Pruitt.

In all the things I've seen and heard about him this is a first. He's come off as a hard arse that demands perfection.

that doesn't necessarily prove his abilities with the X's and O's.

He hid our deficiencies this year and made them look like a strength compared to the previous year. I'd say that's some pretty good X's and O's

I won't be truly convinced of that until he goes somewhere that he has to build a team up and can't simply out-talent his opponents.

Then you might never be convinced since he will probably get a top program if he keeps up his pace at UGA and cherry picks a job.

There wont be a coach at Bama in football that hasn't been a head coach before. If Jeremy were to get a head coaching job at a P5 school and do well then yes, I could see it happening. We have that luxury in football that we do not have in some other sports of being able to go to almost any school or NFL team and at least getting them to listen. Before Shula says hi we were on a 30 schollie probation from 2002-2005 and no coach would take that kamikazee mission.

With that said, would love another Bama guy at the helm. Wold like to see him get a job at a South Carolina, Purdue-ish type school and get his feet wet.

I think that is why Bama Fans are worried that Saban is going to retire in the next couple of years. If he does, the leader in the clubhouse would be one of these three: Dabo, Pruitt or Smart.

Does anyone think any of those three could handle the job ?

I feel sorry for whomever takes the job after Saban. Will be like taking over after Bear Bryant. New guy has no choice but to attempt to keep the bar high. Most cant. I suspect Bama will go through another couple of coaches fairly quickly after Saban before settling into another long term coach.

But you can do that without coming off without being a complete a-hole like Grantham. Players understand and even appreciate a coach that can be a hardass and push them. But there's a time for that and there's a time for joking. Pruitt was good at balancing that. He was always good at building relationships with players and earning their trust. If you watched Two-A-Days back in the day Pruitt was practically best friends with his players off the field.

But you're right, he his demanding and a perfectionist. Even in something as simple a weight training class he that way, even towards the non-football athletes in the class.

If you ever get a chance to watch UGA practice watch Kevin Sherrer for a prime example of a guy that's an arse on the field but players still like. That dude was a MEAN SOB on the field, really liked to play up his Viking heritage But he was still a cool coach. He wasn't going to be your friend like Pruitt, but you still respected anyway. All those guys learned that from Probst IMO.
