Nice sentence fragment. Next time I'll be sure to use punctuation so you can understand my message board post. The premise of my comment is still true, I guess we have to wait to see if you disagree when it happens

The job would eat Dabo alive, too thin skinned.

Bingo!...also, his maturity level isn't there (and may never be) to satisfy the people who make those decisions.

This is why he won't leave Clemson. He would crumble at Alabama. When that time comes for Saban to retire I truly feel sorry for whoever has to follow him. How did it work out after Bear Bryant retired?

Dabo would need to be more polished for sure.

Example: Last year Dabo hosted a pizza party while waiting to hear the semi-final playoff teams. The place was wild with players/coaches/students, reporters everywhere. Meanwhile at Bama...... the TV crew had to turn the lights on in the football complex so they could film an empty building, not a soul was in attendance when the playoff committee announced the final 4 teams.

getting Dabo after Saban would be a coup

Whoever you hire is going to have to live in a giant shadow - but with Dabo it falls less heavy. He doesn't need to prove he can get a team to national championship he's done it

You say it's just the 2 coaches. Dude tells you they win in every era. You say it was different in the other eras. What in the world

I don't think y'all are thinking this through. You don't think UA could handle a fun/weird coach? You think a pizza party with everyone having a blast would play poorly at UA? Why do you think that?

Do you see the players this guy signs? Do you see the QBs? The skill players? The DLs? The defenses as a whole? He would MURDER it on the recruiting trail at Alabama.

You talk about thin skinned? Have you ever seen a Saban presser? Y'all really underestimate what Dabo brings.

How did it work for the last guy to replace Saban?

Y'all are ridiculous.

Maybe I'm brainwashed to the way Saban does things? Dabo is a good coach and obviously knows how to run a program. Bama is a whole other level though, and Dabo needs to mature some IMO.

IMO, the drastic change in styles is what will get a coach settled in. Y'all want some fake hardass trying to do exactly what Saban did, just not as good? frick that, if you ask me.

Dabo is serious as hell about winning, so that ain't a problem. He'll pull in enough talent to excite those who might not like his personality. Plus, he's so different that comparisons won't be as harsh. The change of styles will be fun to learn. Plus, the guy brings in MONSTERS at DL and QB and pretty much every position.

I do not want a Saban clone to follow Saban...unless it's Kirby...and that's only if he just destroys the league at Georgia. Doubt he'd come anyways.

It's Dabo's job if he wants it, and he wants it. A HS and college buddy of his still hunts with him once a year and told me that Dabo said if the offer ever came his way "how could I not take it? of course I'd take it". He just doesn't want to HAVE to take it for another 6 years b/c he wants his kids to be out of school first.

I have been told that he doesn't want to follow Saban at Alabama. I hope he changes his mind!

I've heard that Dabo's been named Head Coach in Waiting at Bama. Now Clemson is down a coach per NCAA rules.

I tend to agree with the thin-skinned thing.

As a Gamecock fan, I'm no Dabo fan, but it's hard to argue his success. He has been the right man for the Clemson job. That being said, his shtick wouldn't work everywhere.

Don't think many Bama fans would find much humor in him carrying off the sideline reporter after winning the Peach Bowl. But, could be wrong.

Dabo is the successor to Nick Saban and it is pretty much assumed in Tuscaloosa. It just has to play out in time and it will be up to Dabo when the time comes. Per Savage.
