Your argument is Hurd running through one of our backup cornerbacks?

shite, if he couldn't do that then he wouldn't belong in this conversation to begin with.

I got to say, Hurd really doesn't get much respect in the media. You really never hear about him, and he's a nasty back.

Best of luck to him next year, except for every SEC East game he plays in.

Chubb is better. When healthy, Chubb is the best in the nation. He has that rare mixture of strength, quickness and agility.

Hurd is good though, and he impressed in the UT Bama game last year.

Chubb was going against our D in a game where they were trying to squash the doubters and make a statement. Hurd was going against a Bama D that just went through a tough gauntlet of games.

I'll take this one over yours, especially if you factor in the situation...

Chubb is the best back in the conference.

Derrick Henry. Is that an option?

I also think they have their own unique attributes which make one more of a positive than the other. It's pretty even, as an overall evaluation.

Hurd is better at getting the 2-3 yards you need each carry to keep drives from stalling. Chubb is better at being the home run threat.

Pretty much. You can run Hurd into a brick wall and he'll get 2-5 yards from it. It's fairly amazing.

Chubb is a bigger HR threat if he gets free he's gone. Jalen has speed but his burst isn't as quick (takes him an extra step to get to hit his higher speed) but with our OL struggles I've yet to see Hurd have many chances to go anywhere without breaking a few tackles first and I think that's made him look a bit slower than he really is. I think Hurd may look faster this year than he has in the past because I think our OL will help him a bit more.

I would love to have either right now. I liked Chubb before the injury but I might take Hurd if I had a gun to my head. He's a freaking truck.

Some of that is because Hurd doesn't seek the spotlight and has been very careful with the media his entire time here. When he broke freshman records against OU he didn't go out and speak with the media, instead he waited for his teammates, thanked them, and celebrated with them. He's not rude or impolite or anything but he's very aware of the fact that the entire state's hopes have been on his shoulders since he was in High School and that's made him very cautious with the media. Jalen Hurd committing to UT was at that moment in time as big as Peyton Manning committing, only Jalen is an in-state kid and the situation we were in was free fall. It shifted the entire trajectory of UT football in an instant. That's a ton of weight to have to carry around and he carried it alone for most of his time here.

Chubb will be the better NFL back because of his illusiveness. Hurd is like Henry, a strong runner but not enough lateral moves. Being that tall is a disadvantage at the position.

Hurd, power and speed. He will be the Vol MVP at seasons end.

Hurd and Henry are only alike in size and that size isn't a weakness.

Hurd is overrated by most Tennessee fans and underrated by most other fans in the league imo.

He is a very good back, obviously with some flaws.

Kamara is excellent as well and very underrated league wide imo.

I think Kamara may be the better of the 2, but Hurd is more important to the VOLS imo due to his blocking ability.

Both will have big years barring injury. Will be fun the watch all of the running back talent in the SEC this year.
