What is the University planning on doing with the Bryce property? Big coup to get that land, but don't know what the plans are future. TIA

They will keep the main building (historical), make it offices probably, then tear down the rest and put more facilities I guess.

In speaking with a friend that works for UA, it seems they want to build a new Aquatic Center. Maybe there? Though he said that would be a good deal in the future as far as he knew.

Rumors are flying around that they're gonna build a new baseball stadium over there, near the river

The main, historical building will remain. It will be restored and updated. The remainder of the grounds will be used for new dorms, as well as future expansions of the science and engineering complex (there are two more phases planned). The other end of the property will see new athletic facilities. Swimming/diving, track and field, and possibly baseball will see new facilities there.

The main building to Bryce Hospital.

An aerial view of the property.

Dorms would be on the western edge of the property. New athletic facilities would be on the northern and eastern edge of the property.

Dang, that will add about a third more to the campus. I can't help but figure they will want to put some dorms in there. Dorms take up massive amounts of room on a campus and Whitt seems to want to make Bama Big Ten sized. I don't have a big problem with that. I just miss my school from the 80s.

I came to Bama in the fall of '05 and it's grown a bunch since then. Witt's killing my university.

Really? The Rec Center Alabama has now looks pretty badass. If I'm thinking of the same building.

The Rec was redone in the early 2000s. It's always packed. We could use a 2nd, though.

The real question is how many of you have broken into Old Bryce at 2am?

I have visited Bryce, old Bryce, Partlow and Taylor Hardin. Some visits were above board.

I disagree. Witt has been one of the best presidents Alabama has ever had. Sorenson was unpopular with many Bama people but he deserves credit for initially lifting the school`s academic profile. Witt has built the school`s rep even higher and has dramatically improved facilities. Alabama has never been as popular with prospective student in its history than now. I am concerned about enrollment getting out of hand though. I think enrollment should be capped at 30,000 as it is now. Up till now average ACT scores haven`t suffered. I don`t think that can keep up if we get much larger though
